Re: How to Post Your Film
That was a fluke. I was going through the directory trying to weed out some of the tests and shorts that didn't belong so we could get the queue down. But really, it was only two items. It's hardly a systemic problem.

"They won't tell you" makes us sound like a secretive coalition that sits around in dark underground caverns wearing funny hats and reviewing films by candlelight.
Oh my God, that's exactly how I imagined you guys.
*note: the above post was not sarcasm at all*
Uh, my film has just been released in the directory but it won't show the scores that it got for animation, cinematography etc...
Why?

Non-recommended films, at least for the time being, are simply rated overall for the sake of expediency.
But there are quite a few others with sores on them. I've waited like three months for my film to go in the directory, and when it does, there are no scores. ![]()

Just out of interest, how much longer do you think it will take to get to the other septemberfest entries? I've read that you guys don't really know how long it'll take, I respect that, but I just thought you could maybe have a rough idea being as the most recent recommended film in the dictonary is a septemberfest entry.
I know there's no way for you guys to be sure, it must be pretty tough rating all those films, and writing a review.
@Filmfire96: A good 10-15 of the oldest 25 films in the queue right now are Septemberfest entries, so you'll hopefully see most of them reviewed by the end of the year. Don't quote me on that, though.
@jstudios: We apologize for the disappointment, but this was a step that, after a long discussion, the site staff decided was needed to prevent the queue from becoming unmanageably long. We have some changes to the submission process planned that may streamline things enough that we can consider fully rating non-recommended films again, but for the time being it's a necessary evil.
just wondering; about how long on average does it take for a film to be accepted to the directory?
sorry , I accidentally double posted. I was just wondering because I wasnt' sure if my film was rejected or not... For some questionable jokes that WEREN'T MY FAULT!
jk
One of my films once took the good part of a year..
okay, I was just worried that it was'nt accepted, but considering the circumstances I guess I did post it pretty recently...
We're still working through films posted in October, so we're pretty far behind right now. The users on this site have been posting films often enough that it's become difficult to have a staff of volunteers keep with it.
To anticipate the response to that, though, no we don't need more reviewers, thanks. Adding more reviewers hasn't helped in the past because most people don't enjoy the work once they actually start to try doing it regularly. Also we try to keep some standard of quality in the review writing, which becomes tough if we start allowing younger and younger children to be on the panel.

Don't mean to look impatient or anything, but how long do you think it'll be before my Septemberfest film gets reviewed. I think mine's about the only SF film which is still waiting to be reviewed.
I know its not made to give me feedback, its to the people who consider watching it, but I'd still like to see what you guys think.
Thanks, I know that it can't be easy, just if you guys could give some sort of rough time or information on it. I'd much appreciate it. Sorry again for looking impatient. ![]()

Not ''Recommended'', strange.
Oh, I never knew. I wonder why it didn't get recommended, coming 2nd and everything. It got the same score overall as my 'A day for heroes', and personally I thought that TMH was better. And I've seen films with a 4 overall recommended. Thanks for pointing that out though LGFB, otherwise I probably would have just sat there thinking how long it would be until it was reviewed.
Why was it not recommended though? I'm not upset, just a bit surprised. I'm sure theres a reason though, anyone want to explain how I could improve, or why it didn't make it to recommended? I'm just a little confused, I thought that because it won me £35 worth of lego that it would at least get recommended. I'm not going kick up a fuss though, theres no point in that. Whats done is done ![]()
I found it strange how that didn't get reccomended as well.

No problem, Filmfire
I think it's really unjust... Why THIS film is recommended, when ''The Magician's Hat'' is better ?!

Thanks guys, I'm still a bit unsure why it didn't get a recommended spot, I put a lot of effort into that film, which shows being as it came second in the Septemberfest. I suppose it depends on who you get reviewing it, but I did think it would get a higher overall than 'A day for Heroes', but I'll go by the feedback, and overall score that the community gave it, and the fact that it was runner up. A lot of people liked it, and thats all I ever want to achieve in one of my films. ![]()

Because they were processed by different members of the review panel, and with something as subjective as reviewing movies, it's quite difficult to get total consistency.
Nonetheless, I would agree that 'The Magician's Hat' should have been reviewed as the quality is pretty well within our normal standards, I made a post about this in the panel forum so hopefully one of the panel members will be able to review it.
It's okay to contest things like this, it helps us correct mistakes, though we can't always accommodate everybody.
