Everyone- Please stop and think about the questions you all have. Use common sense, it's not that hard. Read through the thread, and I'll promise you that 95% of the time you'll find the answer for your question.
If you have an idea, and you wish to share it, please post it here. That thread was purposely made because of what people are doing in this thread.

Here's what you can do:
Step 1: Take head and hands off of Toy Story soldier.
Step 2: Replace them with normal yellow head and hands.
There you have it! A regular soldier.Neat idea. Might just do that. Just I think that they might look weird. Cos of course, they still have a body that is green, suddenly having bright yellow hands might spoil it
No, it'll look fine. The green is kinda bright itself. (I saw it used on Flickr)
It might be a good idea to use gray weapons, though.

Okay, I am now a bit confused, the film has to take place in history, so could we do a steampunk themed movie?
Alternate reality, slight deviations into fantasy, etc. are okay. It is a bit disappointing to me that when a "history" theme is announced almost everybody here jumps to "How can I make this into a sci-fi/fantasy film despite the theme?" Steampunk is not historical. Time travel is not something that has happened, historically. Having mummies in your film doesn't make it historical. How the well theme is utilized in entries is something that will be considered in the judging process, and a film in a generic medieval castle setting, or a movie set in the 1990s where the time period has no clear relevance is not likely to fair well.
There's a good 5,300 years of recorded history to draw from here, I think it might be more compelling to draw from real history for film ideas than to venture off into world-building science fiction or fantasy.

This should be in the audio forum. But if your putting Jango Fett in your BiM 2011 entry, you can't because you can't put trademarked/copyrighted characters in your entry.

Let me get this right though, so there is no confusion; the theme is asking for you to simply retell a historical happening? Can it be a tale?
Y'know, I was gonna be all "READ THE THREAD," but it's really kind of a ridiculous expectation that somebody would sift through all 18 pages of this thread. Perhaps I should put an FAQ in the first post.
Anyhow, historical fiction (fictional story in a historical setting) is allowed. It's pretty much up to the entrant to incorporate history into their entry in a relevant and interesting way, I'm open to ways of doing that that I have not personally thought of. But a steampunk lightsaber fight in which somebody makes a passing reference to Hitler is not going to fit this contest.
