You know, you can keyframe the position of the camera in Sony Vegas using the Pan/Crop feature. If you want, I can make a tutorial on it today.

Here's a quicky- first of all, if you're going to make a pan feature with sony vegas instead of physically moving the camera, you need to animate in a slightly zoomed out way. Then fully put the pics together (for the animation- without panning yet) and render the video. You now have an unpanned animation.

put the new video (animation) into the timeline, then zoom in on the clip in the timeline until you can see three icons on the far right side of the clip. One should look like the crop symbol (two "L"s crossing). Click that. A window should appear with that clip and a giant "F" on it. What you now do is you click and drag a corner of the image outward (I think), thus zooming in the picture in the preview area. Then you move the "F" to either side (which ever you want to start with- note the movemetns are inverted in this mode). Now, at the bottom of the new window, you will see what looks like a timeline. Click the very end of it, then click the "+" button. it will create a diamond shaped thing on the timeline. Now drag the "F" to the opposite side (where you want the pan to end). Close the window, and preview it. It should look like a smooth pan- BUT please note that doing this may cause some... loss in quality (you're essentially zooming in for the pan).

right click the little diamond while creating it and select "smooth" to make it smooth. this is opt.

no offense, but i think the video stabilization tool i used came out better/smoother.
