I like the rts elements in the new one, it looks like it could be good. Sometimes some depth is nice. Instead of just another button basher.

I thought you said you were tired of how repetitive the games got. You can't really have it both ways.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

Yeah, the LEGO Games have gotten QUITE repetitive over the years.

"Repetitive" is really referring to how much one game is so similar to the game that came before it, where it gets to the point where it's essentially the same game with a new skin.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I think after Christmas I'm going to Gamestop and will buy a lot of old games for around $10 each. I'm hoping to get both Metroid games for gamecube, Wind Waker, maybe all of the Donkey Kong Countries for the GBA, and while I'm at it, I might buy Donkey Kong Country for Wii and Twilight Princess.
Any more suggestions on any other old games I should get?

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

I bought the first Metroid after hearing great things about it and found it rubbish. However, you have to buy Mario Strikers Football. It's probably the most fun multiplayer experience on the GameCube, if you have somebody to play with. Spiderman 2 is also great fun, but the side-quests get a bit boring. The gameplay's so fun thought, you'll really feel like Spiderman swinging through new york. I got onto the last boss fight and never bothered finishing it because I played it too much and got bored but it was worth £3 in CEX. I could reccomend a few others if you like, the ones I mentioned are cheap as dirt.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

The thing is, if I buy the Metroid games they will be by first FPS's (which is kind of sad), so I don't know how my opinion will be affected if I play the first one. They all look pretty cool to me right now. And yes, I have played Spiderman 2 at friends' houses before, and it is pretty open, though I might have to check up on that because I don't really remember it that well.
Now that I think about it, I may buy some Harry Potter games because those were practically my childhood playing them on the PC. More suggestions are welcome though!

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

The Metroid Prime series isn't really traditional FPS-play. There's running around and shooting aliens, of course, but a lot of the gameplay is puzzle- and exploration-based. They're definitely worth trying out - they're some of my favorite Gamecube-era games.

Why not get Metroid prime trilogy on the wii? All three of them on one disc for the price of one game. mini/bigsmile

Here you go.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

Yeah, I bought Harry Potter 3 for the GameCube and it's so funny. The dialogue is hilarious and the voice acting sucks, it's so bad it's funny. The Gameplay's pretty decent though. Dementors in that game terrify me.

You should maybe also check out Super Mario Sunshine. It's highly underrated IMO, but I couldn't get past some level to do with putting a crazy chain chomp in a bath. Some people will say it's bad, but I think it's worth a try. Smash Bros. Melee is pretty fun too. mini/smile

LMP, this alone should convince you to get MP1.

So guys, I'm getting the Orange Box for Christmas. Any good?

Two words: PORTAL TF2.
I think TF2 just plain puts itself at least in the top 20s for best online FPSs.
As for Portal, you'll have your own cake ofter getting both portals. Shooting at the ceiling, then at the floor right under it is awesome.
Well, if your eyes can handle it.

Both are pretty epic and put Valve the right to have steam in the first place.

HECK YES! I really hate the Indiana Jones 2 game. There's so much crap you can get or do that I don't know what to do!

Yeah, the IJ game just plain flopped when I saw no real freeplay. FREEPLAY, DARNIT!
The only thing cool is the new build your own course option. The hub worlds suck because there's no simple area to buy things.
And ALL the levels are only ONE thing per level.
Either it's a brawl, puzzle, driving, or boss, there all easy.
Where's all the hords or non-puzzle whip use?
I'm guessing the only game after all this that's still good is LU.

At first I thought "eh, this looks pretty crap." Then he explained it all.

Re: The Video Game Discussion Topic!

@Js: I have looked at the trilogy thing before, and it seems that Gamestop has it for $40, but that's online. So it really depends if it's higher or not at my local Gamestop. And yes, the music is pretty awesome. I have heard it many times just playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. mini/smile

@Splash: I actually have Mario Sunshine already. In fact, it was the first game I wanted back when first had a Gamecube. Super Smash Bros. Melee was pretty fun as well (at friends' houses) but since I already have Super Smash Bros. Brawl I think that would sort of be a waste, even though you get Roy, Mewtwo, and other additional characters.

More suggestions are welcome though!
