Software and Hardware, as a camera is hardware.
Welcome to Bricks in motion :-) I agree with Binding Bricks, unless you do professional stop motion animation then a web cam is probably the best choice to get you started and webcams are foten used by professionals!
i do have a webcam but it is pretty bad, it gives bad photos.:lol:

The Logitech C910 is also a good choice.
Quickcam 9000 or 4000 should be the best.
