Topic: Computers

I was wondering if anyone knows a good, cheap laptop for animating/editing brickfilms on, Also should I get a Mac or PC? Thanks!

Refurbished Macs are discounted. Although they don't beat those Dell prices.

Used to be 'Caidence'

Re: Computers

thanks! I'd love to get a Mac the only problem is the price:lol: on the other hand some of those Dells look really nice too.

Re: Computers

i agree. macs are the best computers. pc's never work for artistic things. if possible, get a quantum computer so you can hack RSA (nerdy joke there, ignore if you got no idea what i am talking about)

Re: Computers

I hope I'm not stupid but whats a quantum computer?

Re: Computers

Uh, that was part of the "nerdy joke", I think. An HP is good, that's what I use, and it runs Windows 7, the best PC OS. PC's have more compatability with webcams and frame-capture software, so PC is ideal for animating.

Re: Computers

look up quantum computer on wikipedia. it hasn't been invented yet. it is just a concept. but i would really suggest a mac. it runs better (my opinion)

Re: Computers

What I recommend, and a few members here do this (namely MindGame), is to run Windows within MacOS X. Bootcamp or VMWare will do this quite nicely, and there is only one hard drive to save stuff to, making for easy access. Usually, Windows is used for the frame capture, and OS X is used for the editing. However, there are some fairly powerful editing programs for Windows, and there are some frame capturing programs for Macs, so don't dis-count either one.

@topitmunkeydog, I will just tell you now that strong opinions, like yours on things such as operating systems, can cause flame wars. So tread lightly.

Re: Computers

How cheap is cheap?
0 - 200 mini/lol , 200 - 400 mini/smile , 400 - 600 mini/blankexpression , 600 - 1000 mini/confused , 1000+ mini/eek ? And what currency are we talking about here?!
Also I would reccomend not getting the cheapest laptop possible for animating, as you do need to have a bit power for some of the editing programs atleast! Maybe look around the 400 - 600 mark.
