use virtual dub, monkey jam, or helium frog to put the pictures together then use premiere or final cut to put the clips together.
to answer the original question though, i use premiere cs5 and it's incredible. it's stable, flexible and fast.
Probably Final Cut, however both are quite expensive. I use Sony Vegas HD 10 Suite. It is under 100 dollars and I am very happy with it.
Is Final Cut Mac only? I'm pretty sure Premier can work for both.
Premier does work for both.
Premiere is cross platform, however Final Cut will only work on a Mac.
Final cut is a better standalone program for editing. Premiere is still a good program however and if you can get it cheaper it's not a bad option. If you can get Premiere with After Effects on the side, that's a true winning combination.
^^^^^^^^words of wisdom (it sounds)^^^^^^^
Hmmmmmmmmm, i have adobe premiere and the thing with that is that I can never figure out how to change the spf on it or import my frame (I have like 2,000 frames per video)...

Like, use one of those programs to make each camera angle a video file.
all video editing programs will fail if you try to do stop motion directly with them
Are 'Virtual dub', 'monkey jam', and heluim frog' free?
Are 'Virtual dub', 'monkey jam', and heluim frog' free?
Yes their all free!
Neither, because stop-motion animation has nothing to do with the editing software. Any multi-track video editor can string a sequence of images together and add sound to it. Final Cut Pro and Premiere are like driving a Ferrari down the block to pick up milk. You don't need all that muscle for stop-motion animation.
Right now I am using this crudy software called 'slideshow producer' and it can only go up to a 10 fps ![]()
