Re: How to Post Your Film

Is it me, or hasn't there been a new film in the directory in ages?

Re: How to Post Your Film

I'm just wondering when the Review Panel applications are checked. I submitted mine a few weeks back, though when I look at the message's status it says that the recipient has not visited the Forum since the message was sent.

I mean in no way to hassle anyone, however I'm just curious as my previous submission (Which was not quite proper as such), was opened the same day I sent it.

Re: How to Post Your Film

Everyone keeps saying that the reviewers have a lot a films to get through but there haven't been any new ones in the directory in AGES.

Also, I submitted a film on the 28th August and it still hasn't been reviewed. mini/tongue

Re: How to Post Your Film

I'd be able to review 3 a week anyway. I have plenty of time, and it's after all my piece de resistance.

I did a while ago.

For what it's worth, I've been out of town for two weeks working on a research project. I don't know what the excuses of the rest of the panel members are.

Re: How to Post Your Film

I know I sound like a bit of a beggar, but I would consider maybe adding me. The reason I say this is that I have hours in which I write, a lot of the time for Podcasts and Vlogs (Neither are published, as they are more experience tests) and would have plenty of time for this. I understand that Smeagol is in charge, so please consider it. And I ain't one to just drop it, it's a long-time hobby of mine.

EDIT: Glad to see that my submission has been read. mini/smile

Re: How to Post Your Film

Adding panel members, though it is being considered, isn't what we're aiming for at the moment. It's a temporary, half-effective fix at best and a headache at worst. Some fundamental changes to the system may be necessary to get the directory to where the community wants it to be, unless we get an influx of brilliant and prolific reviewers within the next few weeks... and I'm not keeping my fingers crossed.

You're in the running, LegOpinions, but I'll be honest and tell you that you're not on the top of the list. The content of your reviews was better than many, but grammar errors like using "it's self" instead of "itself" and confusing the words "loose" and "lose" are tough to overlook. If we decide we need you, we'll come get you.

Re: How to Post Your Film

I do understand, however I can take longer to look over them, plus I can get people to "check" everything. I promise I can correct mistakes, though I also understand how this may be off-putting if you were to consider choosing me. If you wish to send another two reviews consider it done. I'll have them in tonight if needs be.

Re: How to Post Your Film

I wouldn't bother just yet... like I said, we don't plan to add any panel members in the immediate future. We'll let you know if we'd like another set. Thanks for your interest.

Re: How to Post Your Film

I asked that same question last year. They won't tell you, FYI. Just wait patiently.

Re: How to Post Your Film

"They won't tell you" makes us sound like a secretive coalition that sits around in dark underground caverns wearing funny hats and reviewing films by candlelight. It's not that we "won't" tell you... it's that we can't tell you. Depending on the length and quality of your film and of the films in front of it in line, and how busy our reviewers are with that pesky "having a life" thing, it could be anywhere from a week or two to several months.

I know no one likes hearing "we don't know... wait patiently" as a response, but unfortunately it's all we have to offer. Believe me... we're as frustrated with the long waiting times as you are.

Re: How to Post Your Film

Just wondering, how many are on the review panel at the moment? Also, maybe there could be a schedule where a set group reviewed films for a month, and then another group reviewed for a month and so on. Then people wouldn't get overburdened quite as easily.

You can see all the staff members on the Staff Credits page.

That is quite a few, what do you think of the idea of rotating reviewers using a schedule. Maybe accepted a few more applicants to the review board, and then have them say, review films only 3 months out of a year?

Re: How to Post Your Film

I'm not exactly sure how a rotating panel would accomplish anything. And adding panel members has been discussed--and rejected--on multiple occasions due to the fact that there really aren't any well-qualified candidates left to add.

The rotating panel idea would allow people to take a break for a while from reviewing without quiting, many times people get burnt out after doing the same thing non stop for a long time.

LegOpinions is a very good Reviewer, why not add it on the review panel?

I would like to join the panel, but I'm not good a good reviewer mini/confused

Re: How to Post Your Film

I'm currently quite interested that an entry to the "Throwing a ball against a wall" animation challenge has already been reviewed, while A-G films have only just all been reviewed. I think that this is quite unfair as Septemberfest entries need reviewing though new films keep getting in first. I thought that Reviewers were meant to stick to the oldest film, though can bend it slightly depending on it's length.
