Well I don't pimp my videos or channel either and I am up to 192 subs so far. It isn't the be all and end all - but it is nice. I decided that every time I hit another 100 subscribers, then I contact that 100th person and offer them help with sound effects or something, (if they are brickfilmers) or I'll name one of the characters in my next film after them or plug their YouTube account as a thank you. I don't advertise that fact that I do this (apart from now), so it is a nice surprise when it happens for them.

I also ignore sub4sub requests (makes no sense given these people won't be motivated to watch your videos anyway) and haven't requested subscribers.  I promote my channel in my signature, nothing more than that.

Just curious, what are you referring to here?  I don't know of any good brickfilmers who have tried to solicit subscribers or get people to advertise them.  Forrestfire101, after all, just featured "Unrenewable" spontaneously on his channel without even notifying me.

I'm not sure if any of you all discussed this already, but I just posted a preview of my new film on youtube and there is an advertisement for the music I am using. Of course the music is someone else's copyright, but if you click on the film a pop up from I Tunes identifies the song I am using and you can buy it right then and there!. I am stunned!  I guess some music companies have decided, "if you can't beat em, at least make a buck off of them!"

I actually kind of like this (unless of course it detects the music that does not have permission to be used or sold and youtube plucks my video...) I'd certainly be happy to help sell some records if it lets me keep up my craft...
