Re: Septemberfest 2010 Contest [CLOSED]

Yeah, I wouldn't consider signs as "dialog". Dialog is talking, isn't it?

Eddie, please stop posting the same thing all over the forum. Especially if that thing is about yourself.

Dialogue is communication between characters to supplement the story. Signs are not dialogue.

Re: Septemberfest 2010 Contest [CLOSED]

Words are in signs. I think that the contestants really tried to push the boundaries. But since practically every entry had words in it, I think that they'll all get accepted. Sorry for our absence of this thread. We've been really busy. Darthrugg, this is our unofficial review. Darthrugg's entry "The Smoking Pun" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6D6JdvcAYvM was quite confusing. I really didn't get the story line, I think that the no dialog rule really hurt this film. Also, the "voicing of the wind" was really annoying. However, a few good effects and techniques such as the tumbleweed, raised the quality of this film. Here are our ratings:

Overall:3

Animation:3

Story:1

Effects:4

Sound:1

Cinematography:5

Overall, we do see improvement from an up and coming animator darthrugg. I say, Congratulations, because you have drastically improved. So don't ignore our highly critical reviews, but don't fret over them as you are really improving! mini/smile. Oh, and Hazzat, Eddie Hasscle (I hope I spelled that right) is just trying to ask a question. I really get frustrated when certain (not saying that you do) mods, try to control the newer members of the site. Now I really don't mean offense but sometimes mod's do some vulgar, or unnecessary things that are just as bad as some inexperienced members. Anyways, I really thought that your film was creative, and has a good chance of winning this contest. (And about the mods, please don't take it to heart, it's just our opinion on the matter mini/smile )

Alright, as he asked us, we are going to review Marty Lego's film "Jealous Much" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFT2tJaZlos
This film had to compete with a lot of good entries and I won't say that it stood tall, but it stood out. Not to say that it was bad by any means, but it really established itself as a confident film (or in this case a confident animator) The story stood out above them all, and it had no trouble following the "no words" rule as it told the story in a very clear, and well presented way. However, the animation was choppy and the quality of the shots were undesirable. Despite that, this film was done well with some intriguing sets, here are our ratings:

Overall:5

Animation:3

Story:8

Effects:2

Music:8

Cinematography:5

Probably our best rating of a film so far in this contest (We haven't reviewed a ton, so we're not calling it the best) Marty Lego, your story really impressed us, an arguing couple is a situation that everyone will either observe, or experience in life. And the fact that you did it without dialog really stunned us. Congratulations, a quality entry in this contest! mini/smile

Ok I'm sure we've covered this, but just to keep me from going through tons of pages..... when are the results coming out?

Re: Septemberfest 2010 Contest [CLOSED]

You know what Eddie? Go through the "tonnes of pages" and find the answer yourself. It's not hard to read. Probably half of this thread is made up of people asking the same already answered question over and over and I'm tired of it.
