Topic: How can I stop my camera from moving so much?

Hi I am having the problem of keeping my camera 100% still well filming. I have a digital camera. And if you were wondering Yes I have a TRIpod and it still doesn't work. No matter what I can't my pictures to be in the same place, my camera just keeps on moving. usually from the way I touch it or hit the buttons. Any way if you could please give me some helpful sugestions that would be great.

Well, do you use a capture program? If you don't, you should probably download Monkeyjam for free. With this, I think you can plug your camera into the computer to take your frames. I think it has to be a Canon or Kodak  though, see for yourself. To keep it still, make a camera cage out of technique pieces. That works best.

Tape down camera and sets, and don't touch the camera at any time while you're animating.

Well for a start I do have monkey jam but my camera dosen't allow me to do frame capture. mini/sad . I am probably going to get a camera that will be able to do this. like the logitech quickcam 9000.

Or put the camera wait on 1 second one shot. And press the capture button lightly enough to trigger the capture, but not too hard or lightly. I have gotten pretty good results by doing it this way with no camera bumps whatsoever.
By the way, shouldn't this be in production?

I lay a big board down on the carpet to stop the tripod from moving so much.  Either that, or I don't use a tripod

Push down slightly on the camera while pressing any buttons, that will prevent any sideways movement. Also, does your camera have a remote control? Use that if you have it. I do, and its really helpful, and not just for stop motion animating.

Re: How can I stop my camera from moving so much?

Does your tripod have a tightener? If not you could just tape and sticky tack your camera to the tripod, and maybe put a board under the tripod's legs.

Make a camera base out of Lego bricks and use Silly-Putty to keep it still.

Sorry if it has been already said, but I used to film for a digital camera and had ways of keeping it mostly still. Perhaps tacking it down or taping it down to something other than your tripod would work.

Does it take a picture right when you hit he button, or does it take a second?

Yeah it does take a second to take the photo. I've gotten so tired with my digital camera that I'm trying to get a logitech quick cam pro 90000 from ebay. thanks any way mini/smile
