Topic: Walk Test

hey all,

used to animate a lot when i was younger, and im starting it up again.

hows this walk cycle look?

Canon 7D
Dragon 2.1
24fps

I know the hat moves and I got lazy on the arms towards the end...

Re: Walk Test

Thats really good quality! The animation was great, but it starts of with too big of an increment. Other than that, thats brilliant for 24 fps

Re: Walk Test

That was great! I think 24fps suits you quite well. The only bad thing is that it seemed the minifig raised his legs a little bit too much for a normal walk cycle. (Don't worry about it too much though, the members here are very picky on stuff. You know you've done good on something when people start getting into detail on little flaws that could have been fixed.)

Re: Walk Test

Thanks, I'm pulling my hair out trying to animate in 24fps. Ease in a bit more because he's starting in a standing position - duh.

Too high with the legs? I can see that - should I not be adding that slight raise of the leg after the initial leg move? (did that make sense)

Basically I'm trying to score a 10 frame walk cycle - does that sound about right for 24?

Re: Walk Test

Yes that makes sense, considering a basic 15 or 12 fps ranges from 4-6 frame walk cycles (averaged to about 5) so if you doubled that you would get somewhere from 10-12 mini/wink

Re: Walk Test

Welcome back to animating! I really liked that, but it looked more like a march than a walk.

Re: Walk Test

it does look like a march... great - new cycle to come soon...

I'm gearing up for quite a large scale stop motion project, just trying to brush up on my technical stuff first!

Here's a still:

Re: Walk Test

skwizitanee do you shoot 24?

if people want I could post a tutorial or something - but walk cycles are common sense.

Re: Walk Test

I'd like to see a tutorial'bout that!

Re: Walk Test

I tell ya, that ease in ease out stuff... its all that matters...

ill make a walk "tutorial" tonight or so.

No I shoot at 15 i'm working on doing some higher than 15 but not really.

Re: Walk Test

Wow, that's way better than the first one as far as the technical details go. Nice!

Re: Walk Test

thanks,

anyone have any ideas on how to make lego scaffolding - they're excavating a pyramid and all. i guess brown pieces, thin like planks of wood or something?
