Good episode. Like the old ones: 4/5. ![]()
I found it that it all went by very fast, and served to add to what will obviously be the season finale.
Ask and you shall receive RP.
There were plot-holes, like: "Where did the android come from? Is the Android a man abducted by the Daleks and made an android, or was he sent down with false memories?" - there is no way he could have grown up as an android, and surely even if that was physically possible (which it is not), surely he has always known he was an android (or did he NEVER TAKE OFF HIS CLOTHES) And did I miss the explanation as to why Spitfires can fly in space and shoot lasers?
And where did the Daleks come from? Were they built by the android - there were spare Dalek parts on his desk, where did he get them? Did the Daleks come shipped in a flat-pack with a one year money back guarantee and spare parts?
But again, it could be that I missed some exposition (though, in the previous series - things didn't need to be explained)
And, please don't think I automatically hate each episode. I never sit down and watch anything (apart from a Uwe Boll movie and a school assembly) thinking "I'm going to hate this". For once, I'm going to say some nice things:
The Daleks, are as usual - AWESOME. My favourite line: "WOULD-YOU-CARE-FOR-SOME-TEEEAAAA?" (I'm tempted to sig that). Though - I find the new Daleks hilarious. I mean, am I supposed to be threatened by multi-coloured Daleks? Every time they were on screen I laughed my head off - and I'm soooo tempted to take the clip of the new Daleks emerging and dub the Power Ranger theme over it.
And, I don't get why you would destroy the old Daleks. I didn't see the new Daleks as a technical upgrade, and even if the old ones were inferior in technology, why would you destroy Daleks if your trying to survive? Surely you need all the Daleks you can get? I mean, I dunno, they could look after the ship of something whilst the power-rangers are kicking a$$? It just seems illogical that almost straight after the Daleks saying: "WE-MUST-SUR-VIVE" that they then destroy three perfectly able Daleks. I just don't get it. Its just a poor excuse to change the design, and whilst I'm fine with a re-design, there are just many more ways in which the Daleks could have changed design.
But my biggest complaint is 100% irrational. It wasn't a bad episode - none of them have been bad, they've all been enjoyable and entertaining. But it AGAIN feels rushed. Not in the ending - the ending was fine.....but it was the middle this time. One thing Russell T Davies and the other writers seemed to nail on the head was that they managed to perfectly fit a story into 45 minutes. This series has just failed completely on that so far.
And I feel cheated. I was expecting an epic Dalek two-parter. Daleks in World War 2....is that not awesome? There are so many missed opportunities. This should have been a two parter. I honestly never wanted to see the Stone Angels again, because that episode was too good - it doesn't need to have a sequel/prequel, it stands on its own perfectly, and to have an extension to it ruins the whole thing. But Stone Angels gets an 'epic' two parter and Daleks don't? Bullcrap! You choose a one-off monster - who despite being one of the best ever should stand alone and preserve its glory - over the Doctors 'number one enemy' who are back stronger than ever? You idiots!
And yes, I know their is a possibility of the Daleks returning for the series finale - but why have this random episode? Sure, you introduce the new Daleks, but why not introduce them at the finale? Or why not make it a three-parter at stick this episode in front?
But what could possibly be more epic than Daleks in World War 2? And I don't want Daleks in the Series finale anyway. Its happened so often its predictable. Why don't you surprise me Moffat? Huh?
"Oh, but Max you silly old sod" I hear you say "you would be complaining about why historical records don't recall Daleks engaging in war with England". Well my school attendance must be pretty poor, since I missed my history lesson as to when we were talking about how Daleks would have helped us win the war? If your having Daleks in the past, your going to have to stick your middle finger up to history no matter what you do. If there is an alternate universe where Big Ben has been trashed by a giant spaceship, Vesuvius was caused by Aliens, Witches in London influenced Shakespeare, Daleks invaded earth....twice - one also involving Cybermen, Christmas Stars, et cetera, et cetera...fax mentis incendium gloria cultum,et cetera, et cetera...Memo bis punitor delicatum! - then I am willing to believe that Daleks were in World War Two.
I have nothing more to say. Not a bad episode, but again its rushed and it had huge potential that it didn't seize. Though, it was much better than Episode 1&2. Also, next episode is on my Birthday, so I really wanted a Dalek two parter just so that I get Daleks on my Birthday - the eptimone of awesomeness, which is partly why I'm so disappointed.

One he has taken of his clothes. The question you mean to ask is has he ripped off his skin before or opened it with a sonic screwdriver. If you watch the episode you will see the doctor opens up the fake skin layer.
The Spitfires fly in space because at the start of episode Bracewell says he has devised and designed a means of creating air pockets in space.
About his memories I think the doctor might have said that the Daleks stole the memories from someone, I'm not sure but It's not important. About building the Daleks thats open to us to imagine.
I find the new Daleks hilarious. I mean, am I supposed to be threatened by multi-coloured Daleks?
I personally love returning to the coloured Daleks each with there own class. It's not like this is an entirely new thing since we've had muilti-coloured Daleks since 1965 with the first of the Dalek films (although not technically canonical the idea of coloured Daleks was continued into the series)
The Daleks would destroy the other Daleks since the Daleks from the RTD era have been genetically modified and such and such making them impure. Since these Daleks are the original Daleks that Davros created they have the pure Dalek DNA meaning they have absolute hatred of everything else so they would destroy modified Daleks.
I'm not saying this about you but I find kinda fun how in 2005 fans of the original series would be complaining about RTD's changes and now people are complaining about Moffat changing what RTD's done. Even though he's returned a lot to the original series.
Don't be annoyed at Moffat choosing a Dalek finale since we don't even know what the finale is.
Anyhoo I do agree that it was slightly rushed too much to be fit into 45 mins. Should be 2 parter.
Cracks. That is the theme. My dad said that like if there were plot holes they would just invent something to get the end result wanted.

Ah, I get it now. Bear in mind that whenever I do a rant, its almost straight after watching an episode, so I may have missed bits of exposition. If I do so - please correct me, adding a note at the end saying what a poo-poo head I am. (But, I swear I saw the Spitfires fire red lasers, or was that just me? That would actually make sense, since there is no way bullets could even scratch the paintwork)
Though, this brings me back to me saying that the old series didn't need so much explaining. And when things did have to be explained they were clear and very carefully worded. I'm trying to remember plot holes or confusions from the old Series, but I just cant find any. It just seems that the old Series wasn't as rushed - and they've had an extra year to script and film this, there is no excuse.
Yeah, multi-coloured Daleks were in the Peter Crushing movie, but that was the 60's. I am perfectly fine with the production design leaning back towards the original series - something I have been wanting for a long time, and I love how they've added a Star Trek style video-chat on the TARDIS (I'm tempted to dub 'The Wrath of Khan' over that scene). But, I'm sure this is the first time EVERY Dalek has been a different colour. Again, I keep thinking of Power Rangers - its impossible to keep a straight face when you draw the comparison. But apart from the colour scheme, I do like the new design (and I never had a problem with RTD). And I get as to why the old Daleks would be considered impure, but they should have edited out the Old Daleks saying something like "THE-DA-LEKS-MUST-SUR-VIVE", its just wrong for them to say that, then get exterminated five seconds later. It would have made much more sense if they said about how they are impure before the new Daleks came in (but I swear they said something like that anyway....I need to watch the episode again)

And look! Another crack...this is getting intresting ![]()
can't wait for Max's and Bricky's hatred.
OK, here we go.
Good start bad ending. And...
WHY WERE THERE HAPPY RAINBOW FUNTIME DALEKS?!?!?!?!?!!?
I'm rapidly losing hope in this show. PLLEEEASE let next week be better.
I don't understand why everyone's hating the colourful Daleks since there has always been coloured Daleks since the 60s. People need to watch some original Doctor Who to see how much the design and imagery of Moffats episodes are closer to the original series than RTD's.
It's not just the colours. It's the shape, and when were daleks like seven !@#$ foot tall?!
If next week pisses me off as much, I'll probably stop watching and you guys can be spared my hate of moffats overwhelming need to !@#$ everything up.
Haters gonna hate.
Yeah, absolutely. Seven feet tall Daleks are so much of a scandalous turnoff for me that I'd never watch Doctor Who ever again.
Yep..

I never said I hated it. I said I found the colours hilarious due to the Power-Rangers comparison. I was going to complain that the Daleks look a bit out-dated and retro....but then I realised - retro is the new fashion. So is bright colours - I even have a collection of bright socks and I'm starting to do the same with T-Shirts. It took a little thought to realise that the new Daleks reflect this eras fashion perfectly.........
.....that's more awesome than Chuck Norris, Mr T, Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Walken, Alan Rickman, The Governator, Christopher Lee, and Yor the Hunter from the Future watching Batman 1960 in IMAX 3D!!
Yeah, absolutely. Seven feet tall Daleks are so much of a scandalous turn-off for me that I'd never watch Doctor Who ever again.
SIGGED!!

Does anyone think they look sort of hunched? The new daleks, I mean.
Yes RP Hoogle mentioned that to me.
WOULD YOU CARE FOR SOME TEA?
CRAZY!

WOULD YOU CARE FOR SOME TEA?
Best. Line. Ever.
OK, epic rant over, I still don't like the new Daleks, but the episode was OK.
I still think there should be more mystery in the episodes.
