Topic: Particles/Physics

Well, I guess since I'm doing so many things with particles and physics now (along with making a lot of videos of them), I'll create my own thread for them. Here I will post my updates, questions, and examples when I incorperate them into films.

At the moment, I have recently made two particle tests, here is number one, using boids, and here is number two, testing out flames.

Critique is my favorite learner, but keep in mind that these tests are pretty old now.

Re: Particles/Physics

Good job! I always wanted to do CGI but never figured blender out. BTW subbed!

Re: Particles/Physics

Thanks for the subscription! And  Blender is rather hard to learn, but once you learn it, it's actually quite easy. (At least for me it is)

Re: Particles/Physics

I just learned a friend of mine knows how to blender... go figure (Is that the right expression?)

Re: Particles/Physics

I can't seem to understand your sencence.

Re: Particles/Physics

I just fixed it.

Re: Particles/Physics

mini/lol  I'm not sure what you mean by go figure...

Re: Particles/Physics

"Go figure" is sort of like "Who would have guessed?"

Re: Particles/Physics

I know what go fiigure means, I just couldn't see how it related to anything until now. That reminds me, in band class a few weeks ago, I was just kind of talking to the person next to me about Blender and it turns out that he uses it too! And worst of all, he's normal. Blender and normal don't usually mix. mini/bigsmile

Re: Particles/Physics

I figure I'll bump this back up, seeing as I have another test. It may not involve particles or physics, but I don't think it's worth making another thread, and I'm far too lazy to write another whole paragraph. mini/tongue

Here it is.

Re: Particles/Physics

the fire is the only problem.

Re: Particles/Physics

Well, I don't know about the others, but me, I'm just busy with academics to thoroughly respond, but looking at your link, where's the particle system in that shot?  The light?  The engine thrusters?

Re: Particles/Physics

I'm not sure what you mean Lech. Particle system? Light?

But the engine thrusters I know about. At first there was an engine thruster in the back, but once I was playing around with my model in Blender, the engine suddenly looked extremely ugly and stood out way too much, so I deleted it and just tried to flop by.

Title reads Particle/Physics, I assume there's particle related stuff, including particle systems, ergo any sample and test videos would have something related to particles.

Light.  Was the engine thruster a particle system or a mesh object?

Re: Particles/Physics

mini/sweat  Should I have made another thread for that? I figured it didn't deserve it's own thread because of how small it is. If I continue making these kinds of things though, I might have to just make a thread for all of my Blender stuff in general.

And the engine thrust was a mesh object. I made a uvsphere, and with proportional editing on I just moved the end vertex back a bit to make it look elongated. However, right now I am improving the ship test (for example, it's shaded slightly different now and it has a particle system for the thrust), and I think it looks better now then it did in the test I just made. One question though: in Carrara, how do you make the particles fade away instead of just suddenly dissapear? I can't seem to find how to do that, and it should be similar in Blender.
