Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

After seeing the first episode, I'll say that I'm still a fence sitter on the new series. Don't like the intro music that much; the logo has improved. Content-ually, I was kind of hoping to see some older running gags return ("it's bigger on the inside"), but I guess the new team has just too many replaced people for that.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I'm pretty much the same, I'll have to just wait for a few episodes to run. Not too bad though.

There was a reference to that. I was pretty annoyed when Amy didn't say it though...

I like the new Doctor. As long as he doesn't try to be too much like David Tenant, he's great.

I would give a full analysis on the first episode......if, I had watched it.

Darn you BBC watchers mini/madhead

Don't be fooled, my avatar is a facade of conformity.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I liked it. Thats really it.

Three nitpicks: 1) Why did he call back the Eyeball thing? But I still dont get why he called back the eyeball thing just as an excuse to use up past stock footage and let it run away again. I thought he would punish it or something. I thought he had called someone else to get rid of them. A bit of an anti climax.
2) I remember thinking that some of the humour was in-your-face. You know how when you tell a really bad joke and have to explain the punchline, it was sort of like that. Each joke had to be dragged out for several lines - I would have preffered something more subtle. But again, this is only a very minor complaint.
3) What was the monster? Where had he escaped from? What did he escape from? What had he done that had caused him to be imprisoned? Did I miss the scene where all this is explained?

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Due to last night's episode i think that Matt Smith is quite a good doctor. He has lived up to my expectations after seeing David Tennant. People shouldn't give him a hard time because he has taken over from one of the best Doctor's of all time.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I liked it, for the sole reason that it's a new show.

If it was supposed to be the same as RTD era, I would have hated it.

Two things I HATED:

Matt Smith was too quiet and unemotional in his speech.
The new theme song.

Two things I didn't like too much:
The TARDIS interior is a little cluttered.
The metion of Twitter, Bebo and stuff. I hate it when T.V shows do that.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I'm yet to see it but from what I see the TARDIS is a lot similar to the 1st doctor and some of the earlier ones : D and the logo is very similar to the '70s

It's funny how all the fans of the 2005 series are up in arms about these changes when they've really just returned back to how it was in 60s to the 80s

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I may be too young to have seen all the classics, but I've seen some.

By coincidence, I've recorded Caves of Androzani today.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

the new companion is well cute xD

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Well, the next episode is by Stephen Moffat - the guy who wrote such family freindly episodes like 'The Empty Child', 'Blink', and 'Silence in the Libary'.

Not that I have a problem with Moffat at all. 'Blink' and 'The Girl in the Fireplace' are two of my favourite episodes, and 'The Empty Child' changed the way I looked at Doctor Who for the better. Plus he also wrote the hilarious 1999 Comic Releif Sketch 'Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death'

So, I look forward to next episode!

Moffat is awesome. Blink was just...kinda scary.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Thank goodness for BBC iPlayer!

'Blink' was the only occasion on which I hid behind a cushion in fear. It kept me awake at night for at least a week. I look forward to the return of the Weeping Angels!

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Yeah Blink gave me the creeps. mini/tongue

Not as drastic as that, Hazzat, but still, it's unusual for TV to unnerve me.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Really good episode. I enjoyed the symbolism such as the test card style graphic in the lift at the start. I'm really enjoying the new season and next weeks looks sweet.
