I think that the best way of determining a good animator is by fight scenes because they show how good someone is at minifigure speed and interaction. 
If Mindgame created a fight scene lasting 5 mins, I would propose to him.

I started watching more brickfilms since I entered here...I discovered lots of more "lifelikeing" animators...
Now, I would say:

Zach Macias
Nathan Wells
VN
Nick Durron (can't believe nobody mentioned him)
Littlebrick
KG
Philip Heinreich (did I spelled it right? if not, let's just say Smeagol)
NXTmaniac
David Pagano
Rsteenoven
Nosniborus (don't remember the name)
watching his last work, Bodville
And moo-c-j...I mean, also if his animation isn't as good as MG, VN, KG, NXT...etc, etc... but his animation is very smooth and there aren't bumps...
maybe I could say also PWC and Ancient Bricks, who did a very good work in Crisis Reverted...
then, Leonardo does very good special effects, and very good animation...
This list could go on...also, nearly all the smooth animations looks lifelike, don't you think too?
Ehh not be very ego, but the last animations are also pretty life like, i'm going to post a test video soon to show you.
Realistic animation is my book, is when the animation becomes where as if you were stalking a dude, but he's made from lego.
So the most realistic animation in my opinion is Nathan Wells. He animates where as the figures move clearly and very crisp. I also think that Hazzat has some great animation, because his figures moves and acts upon a personality. So you can really connect and get a clear inference opon his performance. I also like ZachMG, because of the way he makes them move, it's just one smooth motion with a bit of emotion.
Nathan Wells: Clear and smooth animation. Humanlike.
Hazzat: Intruguing and entertaining with a great deal of personality. Theaterlike performence.
ZachMG: Portrays motion with a sense of technique. Good timing and well thought out motions.
Personally, that's what I think.

Filmyguy has the most cartoonish animation.
But I'm glad you like me.
Nathan is good with sets, but animation. I find him average. I mean, watch one of his videos and look at the animation.
I sometime think votes can be a little varied because usually when I watch a film with dialogue I pay attention to... the dialogue and then if I decide to watch it again I'll go back and pay attention the the actual animation later on. I also think how life-like an animator is can be varied from film to film.
One film Zach/Nathan/David/Robinson/and everyone else mentioned in this thread (not trying to throw anyone under the bus) will have incredibly life-like animation, but then they may make a film after it that does not require such life-like animation. I will sometimes enjoy the less life-like animation because it may fit with the plot/dialogue well. Of course if the animation should be life-like and it isn't then I find it a little less enjoyable and odds are I won't go back to pay attention the the animation.
This is just my two cents.
After seeing Nosniborus' animation, man he beats everyone in it, he's got all the correct physics in his animation (take a look at his reel)and good plot development. All in all Nosniborus is probably the MOST lifelike, after him I would put MG and xxxFPxxx, then filmyguy, then Nathan Wells.
The only reason I put Nathan at the bottom of my list is, his motion is smooth but it is at a constant rate instead of faster at some points and slower at some. This is my opinion and I hope I haven't hurt anybody in anyway.
