I don't know about that Smeagol, I would say most of your content was unoriginal.

It's true I had miscalculated that statement a bit, due to the new HD uploads I've been making.  8 of the 22 videos on my channel are truly original.  Of the others there are a mix of Star Wars, Star Trek, Halo, a Godfather parody, LOST, and LotR-themed videos, though with the exception of the LOST and LotR clips the actual material is mostly original or parody-oriented.  This doesn't approach darthmilo77, whose 65 videos are all Star Wars-related, or forrestfire101 whose 48 videos are almost entirely Star Wars, Batman, and Indiana Jones themed.

Ultimately I'm not bitter about these kids getting huge success within the confines of YouTube, I would rather try to make high quality short films than cater to a YouTube audience on a regular basis.  I'll probably wait until I have 1000 subscribers to apply again.

Re: YouTube

I think that what Zach said is important enough it bears repeating:

I swear, I've mentioned the fact that Partners are free to upload copyrighted content without the chance to make money from them at least 4 separate times. Most of forrestfire's and darthmilo's videos actually haven't been submitted for revenue sharing if any of you would care to notice.

Please, people, read a bit more carefully.

Hell, I'll repeat it one more time, just because:

Re: YouTube

LotL, I'm not seeing where anybody contradicted or ignored that statement in this thread after he said it.  Though it does bother me when people confidently provide false information, I've run into that quite a bit on this forum recently and this thread is a good example of it.

I'm surprised they allow it to Ireland (which I;m happy about obviously). Usually Americans stereotype us and think we're farmers that drink a lot.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this? I really hate it when this happens.

Someone sent me a message, but apparently it didn't process through in time and then sent me another message after that, which showed up in my inbox before the first one, so now I have this error.

As do I, except it's read as a received video.

That happens to me a lot MindGame, just click on the 'Personal Message (1)' then hit back on the email icon and it should be gone.

Anyways, congrats to you, Daragh.

Thanks Zach.

But I noticed that nearly all of my brickfilms have copyrighted material. And that means only a few of them can get money for advertising. mini/sad btw. What do you get the money for? Views? Subscribers? I didn't really quite catch what they said about payment.

Re: YouTube

You get money when people click on the ads beside your videos.

I could be wrong, but this is how I think it is...

You put an ad on your film, and for every time someone clicks on that film (which basically means for every view it gets) then you get an amount of money (probably about 15 cents or something). You'd probably get paid every month.

EDIT: Also, it'd be good to put the auto play feature on your channel and make the channel video a video of yours with an ad on it. So you'd get money for whenever someone goes on your page too.

Re: YouTube

Does anyone know how my problem can be fixed? It's the same as MG's, but instead it's under "Shared with You".

Re: YouTube

Well the partner program is based on the adsense thing on google I think, therefore when people click the adverts beside your video, you get money.

Yeah, I know the feeling of not being able to submit the films you want to when you become accepted as a Partner. I would love to be able to submit some of my top-viewed films like "Laws of Sir Isaac Newton" or "Back to School Nightmare" for revenue sharing, but unfortunately they all have copyrighted material.

As far as I know, money and revenue are generated through views on your films. This seems logical because the ads are placed on both your film and your film's page. However, subscriber count does help in getting more views, for obvious reasons.

I'd also recommend using the autoplay feature since it boosts your view count and may inspire people to visit your film's page to leave a comment or rate it or something, and subsequently access the ads that play alongside it.

Re: YouTube

I have like no subscribers or views right now. What are the requirements to become a partner anyway?
