Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

I could see the fig's shadow in the blue screen test. Kind of odd.
The zoom-in/out in the first test seemed unneeded.

Here's is a panning shot I tried to accomplish.

(would have had QuickTime, but the file is huge...)

No mind the blank background, just playing around before I animate actual footage.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

Hmmm...It wasn't very smooth and the direction was kind-of awkward. Maybe try a simple horizontal pan before you try animing thing more complicated.

I was wondering...is this shot dramatic enough?

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

It's the second floor, on the inside.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

Very nice, Daragh. It looks dramatic enough to me.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

Wide screen has always helped to make it more dramatic or 'epic.'

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

Thanks guys! I'll keep it.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

Hey, guys. Here's a shot I'm working on for a project. It's the last frame of a shot where these vines grow out of a building. I was going for a sort of blown-out film effect.

Do you think that I should add some buildings in the background? I think it might add some depth to the shot.

mini/eek Please tell me that's gonna come alive and throw an automobile at something.

The light is kinda weird, as the sun is shining brightly but it's gray and cloudy out. mini/confused Nice render thou.

mini/smile Well, it does come alive, but I don't think it throws any cars around. I don't know - maybe I could fit that into the script. Even if it doesn't though, it does crush a good amount of stuff.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

just as a small add on to your film, make a shot of a person getting slammed into a wall, and a crater forming.

Maybe add a building on the far right...

BTW, how much of that shot is digital?

Yes, I added some buildings on the right hand side, and I really think that it adds a lot of depth to the shot.

The entire shot was done in Blender, with some compositing in After Effects and color correction in Photoscape. It has some fun stuff in it - a neat effect to get the vine to grow as well as a physics simulation as the bricks kind of explode outwards as the vine crashes through the building.

Or maybe the entire scene?

Sorry, I've actually only finished two shots. Here's the updated version of this shot, though. I tried to make the background buildings look like they were in the distance. I don't know if I succeeded.
