Topic: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

The idea behind this thread is this: a person posts a still image (and, if desired, a link to the animation) of a shot from a film he or she is working on. The person who posts the image may want to explain it a little, or elaborate on how it was created. Other members post comments, compliments, or constructive criticism regarding the shot.

Rules:

1) Shots posted must be from an as of yet unreleased film. The point of this thread is to share (but not hype) works-in-progress.

2) After a person posts a shot, no one else can post a new shot until there are at least 4 posts in response to the image, or 24 hours have passed. (Whichever comes first.) Just be reasonable, people. After this, a new person can post. Generally the same person should not post a new shot again until 2 others have had a turn, unless no one else posts anything for an extended period of time. A person may post revised versions of a shot as needed.

3) This isn't a "look-how-great-my-shot-is" thread. If you don't want constructive feedback on your shot, don't post it in this thread.

4) A still image is all that is required, but many times movement is a crucial part of the shot. If you wish, you may post a link to video clip of the shot, but the clip may only contain the one shot.

Sweetness. This is the fourth-best thread idea ever. Good to have it here at the new site. Hopefully I'll have some stuff to post soon.

Changed my siggy.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

Awesome quality, Numbuh23.  I find it odd that blood is too big to fit through the hole in the ground, though.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

The third shot is the best I think, but the lighting doesn't at all match that of the first two.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

The shine on the rock on in the first picture looks a little odd.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

In the second frame it's not very apparent what the subject of the shot is. Maybe bring the subject into focus?

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

I especially like the third shot, but unfortunately the size of the hat makes it difficult to tell what the guy on the ground is looking at.

What I was doing is the first two are at night, and the the third is in the morning.

Tell me what you think.

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

I think that the lighting definitely works. I kind of wish it were widescreen, but it still has a neat feel to it. Could you give us some more info on the context of the shot?

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

The first shot is of the Sniper rifle on the table (barrel is pointing at you)...  the seccond is the sniper aiming at his target in the building accross the street.
The story will be explained when I finish the film....

Re: Works-in-Progress Post and Critique

Nice shot, but I think you went a bit over board with blue tint.
