Re: QuickCam Pro 9000 Discussion, Tips and Issues

OK, new problem. It keeps brightening as I put something on screen like(as in the clip) my hand, a minifig, or whatever. I'm not sure what's wrong, everything is on manual. It looks like I have white balance on, but I don't.

I've decided that I'm going to become immune to several select, non-lethal poisons, then put them in my snacks to discourage sneaky snack snatchers. -Littlebrick

Are you blocking any of the lights, by any chance? mini/confused

Persist.

Re: QuickCam Pro 9000 Discussion, Tips and Issues

Well, if I move my hand into the set of course it blocks some of the light. But no I am not entirely blocking any lights. Besides, why would that make things brighter?

That sounds like a typical case of auto-exposure being left on.

Are you sure you have every last thing on manual? Because just making the focus manual dosen't make the auto exposure and white balance manual.

Edit: Wait, wait, I had a problem like that a little while ago. Find where it says 'Reset to default settings', and click it. That solves it, but then you have to put everything to manual again.

Re: QuickCam Pro 9000 Discussion, Tips and Issues

My problem is the quickcam's software doesn't work on mac. I will never get a PC. But now I'm happy because the new Macs can run Windows software. And my dad's gonna buy and iMac with Snow Leopard. We're still running Tiger on an old emac. My dad's laptop runs leopard and I've been using his laptop for animating.

Used to be 'Caidence'

Re: QuickCam Pro 9000 Discussion, Tips and Issues

Bricklord, I have the same issure. It's very strange and i've tried everything. EVERYTHING is on manual. It happens at random times too, like the black bunny in Bunnies 5 caused that to happen, so I changed camera angles for the shot and then it worked. I don't know...?

Re: QuickCam Pro 9000 Discussion, Tips and Issues

I use MonkeyJam, and when I rendered a film clip I made, it came out grainy, and that annoys me. Any ideas why? Yes I have everything on manual

Re: QuickCam Pro 9000 Discussion, Tips and Issues

Bricklord, I've had this problem too especially when masking. I just messed around with my lights, made sure the gain was much lower than the exposure, and fiddled around with the the camera angle, and eventually solved it.

But maybe it's something to do with the light reflecting off the torso?

Check how much you compressed it.
If you're not having enough space in your Hardrive, It'll compress it very much down in size.
Also, check how much it's Already Setted to compress it.

Webcams capture images from a video stream, which is why it can be grainy.  When seen as a video, you don't notice the grain as the frames fly by.  To correct for this, capture programs use "frame averaging".  The software captures multiple grainy images and then averages them all together into one, less grainy image.  So my guess is that you're capturing in MonkeyJam with the Frame Averaging turned off.

Also, not enough light can also contribute to graininess.

I've heard the 4000s are really good, so if I already had a good webcam, I might go for the powershot.

Re: QuickCam Pro 9000 Discussion, Tips and Issues

my parents are looking into getting me stopmotion pro educational (since the home user one is kind of crap:lol: ) so a powershot might be good ebay here i come!
