I finally watched this at my friends house, and i'm happy to say that it met my expectations.

Is this movie amazing ?
No
It's a movie so overtrown with the special effects that they grabbed a book full of cliché's and predictable plotlines.
Visually this movie is great and astonishing to watch. Never have seen a movie witch such great special effects
Although watching a movie with a 3D glasses on is kinda annoying, wich can easily can give you a headache.
Some thing that they need to improove.
It's beautiful to see but painfull to watch
The chacaracter wich I most liked was definatly the Colonel, with his badass, hilarius dialogue 
Overall I applaud Cameron for the new 3D, but NO him on the script.
They did the same thing with 2012, although AVATAR is way better excecuted.
They are talking of a sequel, wich I really hope they don't make.

When walking into the cinema, I was determined to hate this movie. As the 20th century Fox logo came up, I was thinking “Come on Mr ‘Greatest Director of all time’, show me what you got”. When I watched the trailer, I thought it would be one of those movies that are 99.9999% CG, which focuses its entire multi billion budget (which could have saved the entire population of Africa from poverty) on pretty images rather than story.
Amazingly…..I was right.
It’s not bad; it’s just no way near as good as it could have been.
You see, visually, Avatar is stunning. The environment of Pandora is amazing to look at. I scoffed when I found out it was only in 3D, but amazingly, the 3D made it a thousand times better. I can smell the countless of awards for best Visual Effects right now (Take THAT ‘Transformers 2’!)
As far as the action goes, it lives up the high expectation. A few seconds of the aerial-action sequences are worth the price of admission alone. Simply put: the action amazing. Better than Terminator 2? It depends on your opinion…
But now we move onto the more sketchy part – the story. Whilst the concept of Avatars is definitely interesting, the rest is unbelievably predictable. It’s been done before: Guy mingles with enemy – Guy meets woman – Everyone hates guy and the guy doesn’t fit in – Guy has to earn the respect of others and learn to fit in – Guy falls in love with woman – Guy is loved by everybody – Guy is then hated by everybody – Guy earns back everyone’s respect – fin. I guessed this plot before I even got into the cinema. The story just doesn’t take any risks. Its boring.
And yeah, the idea that Humans are ignorant, trigger happy, racist, discriminatory, ruthless, and evil baddies, whilst humanoids are tree-hugging, animal loving, naturists…yeah...that’s original…
However, one thing Cameron did do very well script-wise was the characters. Although the romance was straight off a chick-flick, and there was no motivation as to why they suddenly started loving each-over, what I loved was the villain. From beginning to end, I hated this guy, and only hated him more as the movie went on. It wasn’t like in ‘Quantum of Solace’ when I hated the villain because he sucked, I hated him because he was such an a$$hole, and so made me side with the Navi (original name by the way…) Plus he was bad-a$$; with Schwarzenegger-like Muscles and scars on his face. Hell yeah!
And when the Navi were getting their butts kicked by the technologically superior Humans, you do feel the Navi’s pain. There are moments like this that only James Cameron could do. Nothing like the ending to ‘Titanic’ (what? You don’t know the end?) But ‘moving’ to say the least. And at the end, everyone was staring at the credits like ‘Wow’. Again, only James Cameron could pull that off.
Overall, ‘Avatar’ is ground-breaking in its visual presentation, but it’s basically ‘District 9’ with pretty images. Not bad, and an enjoyable 3D ‘experience’, but behind the thick and elaborate icing is a thin, stale cake.

Sherlock Holmes
A fun, frenetic action flick. The story got a bit convoluted at times, but as far as entertainment goes, I had a good time. Robert Downey Jr. is always worthwhile, and Jude Law was particularly great.
Avatar in 3D
The effects were amazing. So were the actors. But the story had a really predictable plotline. You could tell what was going to happen before it actually did in some parts, and that took away from how good the movie was. The director basically treats you like you're a thick-headded idiot, although the rest of the movie was nice.
A Trip To The Moon - 1902
This french film is apparently the first sci-fi film ever made, and when compared to Avatar, you can see how far movies have come.
The first thing I noticed about the film was that it was made more than sixty years before the first moon landing. Therefore, the film is quite naive and childish in it's understanding of space. This is undoubtedly the most entertaining thing about the movie.
Firstly, they travel to the moon in a giant bullet, which I think they made out of wood. The bullet was then fired out of a giant gun. Their space suits were literal suits complete with bow-ties and top hats. The moon was very earth-like, and to get back to earth, they simply pushed the rocket off the moon, and it fell down to earth, into the sea.
It goes for 14 mins, which is actually quite long for the time period it was made in.

I love that film.
I recently saw Avatar and Sherlock Holmes.
Avatar: It was a wonderful movie with extraordinary special effects, the story was okay, but there were some jumbled bits, like how everyones intertwined with nature, and how the atmosphere is harmful to humans but okay for everyone else, so far, shouldn't there be nothing there, if theres no good air they should ALL be dead. But once again, I thought the mineral they were mining had a hilariously cliched name: Unobtainium, really?
Anyways, I thought it was a good story despite the fact that the story was a bit too odd. I recommend it very highly.

Sherlock Holmes: This movie was a very action packed show, it's story was compelling and mysterious, what did you expecct for a Sherlock? And thats all I have to say, great movie.
