Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I think I'm going to win this round. Just had an idea.

Not to make bold predictions or anything, just a friendly challenge...

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

You better hurry up if you're going to win.

No, he is not being kidnapped.

That sorta looks like Maggosh. mini/lol

40% of people causing car accidents are caused by drunk driving. Drive drunk, it's safer.

Don't be fooled, my avatar is a facade of conformity.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I'm gonna judge this in a couple of hours, so if there's any last minute entries, do them now.

Maybe.

EDIT: Sorry for it being so big!

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Man....    my bold prediction ends in utter failure.

I'm probably not going to be able to create a frame for this.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I guess before you judge I should mention its an ordinary day in the apocalypse. mini/lol
I was trying to be a little new and fresh. I thought the zombie in the bottom right corner would have shown that. I guess not.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

I like Duke Boy's frame, it could use some cropping though.

Could someone judge? mini/what

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Sorry for posting this a bit late, I had a rather fun weekend and totally forgot about it until now. But I hope that this'll make up for it:

Results!

1. filmyguy - I quite like this, there's nothing extraordinary which is what makes it work. The depth of field works quite well, and I like the lighting in terms of positioning and intensity, however, the colouring seems a unnaturally pink. The dynamicness (yes, I know it's not a real word) of the way the character appears to be moving in relation to the other characters also works well (and that sentence sounded really pretentious).

2. Awesomeonomy - I find it both amusing and slightly worrying that for the theme "an ordinary event" you decided to show someone being shoved into what I assume is a toilet. I say "assume" because it doesn't really read like a public toilet. The problem is the colouring, because most public toilets tend to be lit with flourescent lights, which give off a much colder light than what you've used. The framing isn't too bad though.

3. jd16592 - My biggest problem with this shot is that it feels to empty. There's just too much blank space, which wouldn't be a problem if it was conveying something, but it's not, at least as far as I can tell. What I would have done is tightened the shot up a bit more and brought everything closer together. The lighting is plain but not bad, except in the corner where there seems to be this strange beam of light.

4. Duke Boy - The first thing that struck me about this shot was the pointlessly odd angle. There doesn't seem to be a reason for it. The lighting also doesn't really work. The light source seems to be in front of the character rather than above which begs the question "why is he shining a light in his face whilst drinking?". Also the positioning of the light creates some rather annoying reflections on the figures face and on the table.

Sorry for giving you guys such a boring and/or tough theme, but it was something that I wanted you guys to think about.

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)

Awesome! I won twice in a row! Well, kind of.
IMO, I thought this was a great theme to go over. Most people make movies of 'an ordinary event' such as, a minifig walking through a town. Even though the idea is simple doesn't mean the shots have to be, that's why I'm glad you picked this theme. Wish there were more people who entered though.

New theme will come soon, I'll have to think about this...

Re: Cinematography Challenge (Read Rules First)
