Hi, do you know (besides www.detonationfilms.com) to download free effects of explosions, fire, sparks, etc...?

Video Copilot - This site contains many tutorials for After Effects as well as some free stock packs and project files.
The good Video Copilot products are not free, but they're well worth it.
Free? I don't know too many, but I wholehearted recommend VideoCopilots Action Essentials 2. It does cost, however it has many different clips in HD. (Plus tutorials, and sound effects!)
I personally use a software called Particle Illusion 3.0 it has like 20+ various explosion/fire effects. Although recently I bought Action Essentials 2 so I'm using them as well and trust me those are impressive.

No, I use Final Cut Express.

I used to have After Effects but currently I don't. I use Adobe Premiere Pro which is also ok for Action Essentials 2.

Yeah, I've got Action Essentials 2 as well. It's good, but very expensive, although I'm glad I spent the money.
Yeah, AE2 is great. 
As far as Perticleillusion is concerned, the explosions are limited, but it does allow you to make your own emitters.
Does Action Essentials 2 work with windows XP?
You'll have to have a DVD-ROM drive to tansfer the files, but yes, it works.
