Jargon words things so well.
Still, don't you think it would be good if us inexperienced people could get a chance to hone our skills competing against other brickfilmers of similiar stature and maybe be awarded for our effort thus giving encouragement to those who would like some.

Besides, do we really want to encourage mediocrity by punishing excellence?
YOU'RE TOO EXCELLENT GO TO YOUR ROOM
I'd like to see the return of this contest as well. I love the theme from last time.

Where would the line between "veteran" and "beginner" be drawn then?

If I remember correctly, members who'd won an official BiM or BF contest (THACs included) were ineligible. Everyone else was fair game. Which, guys clambering for us to revive this contest, means mobiledeli would be eligible. You'd all be fighting for second.
As bluntly and beautifully as Jargon put it, I don't think this contest "encouraged mediocrity by punishing excellence." I think it encouraged normally mediocre directors to strive for excellence because it wasn't a foregone conclusion that they wouldn't finish higher than 10th or so.
I somewhat like this contest, though I realize there's no way for it to be exactly what the target demographic thinks it is. I'd even given thought to reviving it myself at one point, but with the announcement of BiM 2011 in the near future, now probably isn't the best time.
i my be entering
I'm pretty sure this contest ended a long time ago.
However I wouldn't mind seeing it come back again.
I guess I'll defer judgment to those who were here when the first contest was held.
I would love seeing it coming back! The theme was awesome and so were the prizes.
It's worth noting that I can't remember a single film from the contest, or even remember who entered. So if the point of the contest was to inspire a previously middle-of-the-road director to produce a great film, it failed. That said, it was popular with the entrants, so I think it's at least worth considering a revival... just not until next August at the earliest. This and BiM 2011 can't be run simultaneously for obvious reasons.
I would definitely love to see this back. I remember I started making a brickfilm for this when I first saw it on the forums, but then immediatly left the project.

That's a shame. You don't remember the fantastic The Fun They Had?
Wen iz it due?:/
I would love to see an AIM 2.
I'd be willing to do so. If I do, it would be some time after THAC VIII.
