Topic: Mission: Impossible [CONTEST] [CLOSED]

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/Dhizmoraxe/random/mi.png

Theme
IMPOSSIBLE

Do not think that you must create a secret agent animation after which the contest title is reminiscent. The idea is more to do something that you yourself have not achieved, and achieve it spectacularly. Create something that boggles the mind and pushes the limits of stop motion animation.

Rules
Each entry you submit must:

  • Be primarily composed of stop-motion animation. 3D, Flash, or other animation techniques may be used to in addition to stop-motion as long as the finished product is at least roughly 50% stop-motion animation.

  • Use LEGO or similar building toys as primary elements.

  • Not contain strong language (D-word and A-word accepted), excessive violence (blood and gore) or sexual themes.

  • Be longer than 30 seconds, and contain more than 30 seconds of stop-motion animation.  There is no maximum time restriction.

There is a maximum of two entries you can submit. Copyrighted material may be used.

Deadline
June 30, 2011
Entries may be posted before this date.

Prizes
Prizes may change. My parents are beginning to not like the idea of me spending my money on strangers. I am going to try and at least secure the C910, but I can't make any promises at this point.]
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p84/UberSocks/49.gif 1st- Logitech C910 or $80
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p84/UberSocks/50.gif 2nd- Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 or $60
http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p84/UberSocks/51.gif 3rd- Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 or $60
Instead, you may request to receive the cash value of the prize instead or to give it to another contestant.

Submission
You may do one of two things:

1. Upload your video to YouTube and make it a video response to the contest video.

2. Send me the video link at [email protected] if you upload to a different web service.

Judging
Because this contest is more about testing yourself, entries will be judged in comparison to your previous works. Previously plot-less animations will make an animation rich in story get a higher mark. The same can be said for the animation itself. This contest can most closely be related to the title of 'most improved.'

Entries will be judged by myself and Lucas.

Good luck on your mission! mini/wink

Re: Mission: Impossible [CONTEST] [CLOSED]

Hooray! I've always needed another quickcam pro 9000! hehe. good contest. I Still might enter- I could always sell it.

I still want to create an agent film, because, that's still impossible for me mini/shifty

Re: Mission: Impossible [CONTEST] [CLOSED]

Nice prizes.  While I like the theme, it seems like it will be tough.  So by impossible you mean something that is fairly new or tough for an animator.  For example, an underwater film?

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Re: Mission: Impossible [CONTEST] [CLOSED]

It will be interesting to see what entrants are motivated by webcams such as these. It's also a bit ironic, as I just came across a torso today that I thought would work perfectly for a secret agent.

Re: Mission: Impossible [CONTEST] [CLOSED]

I think I'll do a secret agent film, just because I still have not reached my goal of making one. mini/sunnies

I think the contest is way to long, you should only make it like 2 or 3 months

I can't brickfilm for now. See you guys later.

Re: Mission: Impossible [CONTEST] [CLOSED]

Can't say I'm happy to see this contest given its proximity to TOY and direct copy/pasting of said contest's rules, but props on organizing it well and putting some good prizes together.

I'm betting this theme will be prone to the interpretation "make a stupid fight scene," though it seems like a clever theme to me and I hope people try to actually push for new ideas as it suggests.  Good luck!

Re: Mission: Impossible [CONTEST] [CLOSED]

That deadline is perfect for me actually. I may enter this.

And yes, if I enter it will be a gratuitous fight scene.

How about a stupid fight scene... IN SPACE!?

Seriously, though, a fight in zero-g would be pretty sweet. If I were to do anything, though, it would be some ridiculously over the top camera movements.

The biggest reason for the far off deadline is that I won't be able to provide the prizes until I have the money to do so. My job will start maybe one or two weeks before the deadline, so I'll be able to get the prizes then.

And yeah, the rules are copy and pasted. mini/cat

Re: Mission: Impossible [CONTEST] [CLOSED]

There is alot of stuff you could do. Fight scene in space is one thing for example but it doesn't have to be a fight scene. It could be cinematography scenes or flying minifigures if you haven't done that before.

I think he wonders why Copyrighted materials are accepted.

Then you can always try to do a film clip of a movie. I've done that a few times so I won't be able to do it.
Altough I won't enter anyway since i'm a judge mini/tongue

Re: Mission: Impossible [CONTEST] [CLOSED]

finally you posted this, this is a fine theme Uni, i know i won't have a FIGHT SCENE, because that is SOOO overrated and not to mention everybody will be doing it. good luck everyone, this is going to be a good video mini/bigsmile
