Lego Western Shootout
I was quite pleased with the outcome of this, although not the best animation and rather poor effects.

Not bad! Animation was quite good. If you want to do effects, Axagon composer is the way to go in my opinion, people say it's hard to use, but I don't think it's too bad once you get the hang of it, it didn't take me too long, and it's so worth it.

There's a tutorial by SmeagolStudios on how to make lightsabers. It can also be used to make gunshots. The tutorial could help you get used to the program a bit, and if you have any questions, I would be really happy to help.
Not bad, it's good your proud of your work though.
Also effects don't make up a film, a film doesn't need to have effects to be good.
