Topic: Masking Help in GIMP 2.6

I was doing a quick masking test with GIMP 2.6 for the first time, and I followed all the steps from the tutorial posted by one of our own members, and instead of erasing the top layer and having the backround come up, I got white instead. Please help!

Re: Masking Help in GIMP 2.6

Layer > mask >  add layer mask > full opacity (white, or something like that(the top one))>click away > Layer > Mask > apply layer mask. i think this is how you do it, i haven't done it in so long. hope this helped. i'll go more in depth tomorrow- i just don't have much time.

Okay, I'll try it...

Re: Masking Help in GIMP 2.6

Right-click on the top layer and select "Add Alpha Channel." This should do the trick. mini/wink

Yes you do.

Re: Masking Help in GIMP 2.6

Open the two photos > Copy and Paste the rigged photo onto the background image > Use the Free Hand Lasso Tool and select around the lego supporting the minifig > Delete > Right click on the pasted layer > Anchor Layer > Save as a .PNG

if you can see the eraser marks take the blur took and blur them together mini/smile
