Topic: Website help!

Hiya everybody, I've been away for awhile for various reasons, one of which being this dang website I'm making for my friends. I'm doing it on Weebly, but I'm using CSS to design it instead of the drag n' drop format. Anyway, I need help changing the thumbnail for the page, like this one:

does anybody who knows how to use CSS know how to do this?

Thanks a bunch!

Re: Website help!

I can't recall off the top of my head how to change it, but it's called a favicon. May the Google be with you, my friend.

Re: Website help!

Don't you just whack a favicon.ico in your public folder?

Re: Website help!

Yep, I'm pretty sure that's it, but I'd google it.

Re: Website help!

Hm...got the favicon, but can't seem to get it to work. Either weebly's just being dumb or I'm doing something wrong. Does anyone have an example script? I can do HTML as well.

Re: Website help!

Okay if you dont have access to your root folder you can add this to the <head> of your pages:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="/folder-name/logo.ico">

Or if you prefer to use the full URL:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://example.com/favicon.ico">

Re: Website help!

Why couldn't you just google this? Tis all I've done.

Re: Website help!

I have something like that but it's not working. Would the "example.com" be replaced with the websites URL?

edit:

FOR TEH LOVE OF GOD!

I just...can't...do it.

Re: Website help!

No, Brickyman. I was just clearing that up in case it was might have been replacing an image hosting site, since after all, It is an image.

But I've done that exactly and can't get it to work.

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://nearperfectproductions.weebly.com/favicon.ico">

is that correct?

Re: Website help!

When you tried Rsteenoven advice you did upload the favicon file to the root directory didn't you?
If you don't have access to the root directory i can't see how this would be possible unless you hosted the favicon on a different server.

Re: Website help!

Yeah if you can't put the image in your root directory, host it somewhere else, then link it to there.

Re: Website help!

Steenoven is Dutch for "Brick Kiln".

So his name is "R Brick Kiln"

Re: Website help!

Lol.

My name was originally going to be "Brickman" on ROBLOX (How original, eh?) but that was taken so Brickyman it was. mini/tongue
