Topic: LEGO's strongest line-up in ages

I was just flipping through the latest LEGO catalogue. It's like a LEGO renaissance. There's gold on nearly every page. All the classic themes are back: pirates, rock raiders, construction, city (with full sized police station and firehall), coast guard, trains, airport, some good old license products (Indiana Jones, Star Wars), Secret Agents, castle (with orcs and trolls and the medieval marketplace!), master-building sets...
Not to mention the stuff that isn't even in there yet like Farm and the space police coming later this year.
Not only are the themes awesome but, more importantly, the sets are actually well-designed.
LEGO's come a long way from the dark days of the mid-2000s.

Gotta agree with you there, mate.

EDIT: Especially as you didn't mention Power Miners. mini/tongue

He said Rock Raiders. Which were awesome but they're not in the catalogue. mini/tongue

Ninjas?

Re: LEGO's strongest line-up in ages

The Power Miners sets are pure concentrated awesome. Roll cages, double-faced minifig heads, rock monsters, spiky new wheels. What more could you want?

I like the Power Miners line. I don't see why people dislike it.

I popped into Hamleys today and they had some Power Miners. They're cool, yeah, but I don't like all the speciality pieces.

after Galaxy Guy i'm gonna be making a film about futuristic pirates, i could work into the plot that they are used as slaves drilling for crystals.

"actuallly this involves spiderman too, not batman. but im also taking a new approach, more comedy, less action. i dont see to many movies like that with more comedy than action" --SteveStarfyTV on an Indiana Jones meets Star Wars idea.

Re: LEGO's strongest line-up in ages

I'm going to have to agree that the current line up is far stronger than in recent past years.

However I'm not a big fan of Power Miners, Agents and am very disappointed by the mars sets. Growing up with the late 80s early 90s space sets i can say that the new mars line hasn't fulfilled my hopes.

I'm really glad to see the new Pirates sets though! If i could come up with a decent 18th/19th century story line I'd love to buy a bunch of em'.

Same goes for the new castle sets, absolutely beautiful and ingeniousness, i mean the medieval market village looks amazing. I'm not as crazy about the introduction of Troll, dwarves, skeleton (armies), but still, the "human" castle sets are sweet.

And as always a sweet new and old star wars line up.

I wish they'd bring back more of the batman though.

At any rate, definitely a good past year for new lego.

Re: LEGO's strongest line-up in ages

I do like the sets except for Power Miners. I just don't like the fact that they had to make so many new pieces for the sets. mini/sad
