I found this great trick on how to remove permanent marker from well anything.
AXE BODY SPRAY! Just spray it on the piece you have modded or accidentally modded and rub with a paper towel.

AH that's because it contains alcohol right?

Whiteboard marker
I use hair spray
One problem with alcohol (This may be because my stormtroopers are very old) is it can remove the printed designs as well as your mods and/or accidents.
Anything that will remove Permanent marker will remove the designs.
Marker is tougher than those prints I'm afraid.
use fingernail polish remover
Hand sanitizer works surprisingly well. But you have to rub really hard with a napkin.
