Okay, so white expanse looks really cool and all, but I can't get it to work well! 
The minifigs are always really shadowed and I can never get my camera to focus well on them. Also, you can easily tell in the pictures I take that there is a paper in the background. 
Someone who is really good at white expanse, *cough*, Zoot101, *cough*, PLEASE ANSWER ME!!!
You want to filter your light with a white piece of paper covering the light, or use a bounce card (or bounce card type thing). just change the manual focus around a bit to fix the focusing problem, and the white balance if the color seems to be off.
I'd wait and see if anyone else will expands on this.

One of my favourite sayings involving white expanses is crank up that exposure, boy!
Okay...but what's a bounce card?
large (or small) white board that you point a light at and it will reflect some back onto the set so that the light isn't as harsh. You can you poster board or a white trach bag on a frame, anything that works for you.

Yeah, if you go to my Youtube, my background picture is supposed to be white expanse.
Ah yeah, it's very washed out. Turn down the exposure so that the subject looks normal and if the expanse isn't white enough, get yourself another lamp!

Can you check out my newest background? It's another white expanse. Now that I got a LQCP 9000, I know how to crank up my exposure. And I did!
Still looks a little bright, but it's much better.
