I recently watched the movie 'amazing grace' a very powerful story, I was particularly amazed by the chaos in the House, but this may not be true to the government at the time, it is most likely similar, and apparently close to the Canadian House today, very chaotic.  As of the actual abolishment, I don't know much except for what was in the movie, but it definitely seemed exceedingly difficult to abolish, especially with the main focus on the French revolution around that time..
