Topic: LEGO can be art, right?

I haven't touched my LEGOs in ages. I've got an art assignment in school and it requires non traditional materials, create a visually dynamic non-representational 2D art work based on your ideas of line. Your final piece should have an overal sense of unity/balace.

So anyway, I was thinking of making it all out of LEGO. Maybe like the whole frame and some kind of picture all made out of LEGO flat peices (the one with no studs.) But my question is if LEGO would be suitable for art. But then again anything can be, right?

depends on what your teacher wants. I'd say ask for permission first to see if it's ok. Other than that I don't see why not!

Yes, LEGO is definitely an art form. You may want to check with your teacher that a picture made of Lego studs (kind of like the mosaic thing - I've still got mine) is OK though.

Hey I just wanted to let you guys know I got an A on my LEGO art project. mini/smile I don't think they were really familiar with LEGO, the teacher actually asked me to pass it around and everyone was touching it with awe like they thought it was magic or something. It was pretty awesome, haha.
