Blacitch, you have a good point there. I mostly explained what I like to do with my writing rather than how I make/direct a film. There's a lot that I'm picky about when setting up a shot, normally what's seen in the background is very important to me, and not so much if the background is interesting or not, but rather the way you see it.
I like to use a lot of metaphors and symbols, which I embed into my films (normally the way the shot, lighting, or both is set up), these of course almost always relate to the story in some way. So the small details are important, and I get quite upset if I can't set up a shot the way I want it.
I usually like to make my films slow paced as well. I feel it works better, normally, for tension and gives the viewer a chance to build on an emotion which I also try to set up in the film. I do admit that I've made some of my past films a little TOO slow, in the pacing, hehe. But practice makes perfect!
Atmosphere is another thing I like to pay a lot of mind to, it's important for me to create a good atmosphere and keep the viewer in it for the entire film.
I want to say more but I gotta go, so please forgive any typos, I was rushing this!
Into the darkness once more. I walk into the unknown. To a far better life than I've ever known.
