Re: The Movie Poster Thread [Large Images]

I think it needs to be a bit more grimy, but otherwise, it's pretty cool.

Hey, that's very cool. I didn't think that's how they were killed there, wasn't it gas chambers? Anways, is it your STAR?

Thanks, and no, that's not how they were killed in there, but gas chambers is a little bit too much for a brickfilm (I think). And yes, it's my STAR.

Re: The Movie Poster Thread [Large Images]

Gas chambers are more graphic than being shot in the head with a rifle?

I'll be honest with you, a Nazi death camp is probably not the ideal subject matter for STAR.  That poster alone crosses the line in terms of violence, the idea was that STAR entries would be the type of films we could potentially put on a DVD and advertise on Bricksinmotion (keeping in mind that families, with children, might be part of the clientele) and there's no way that movie could be suitable for this purpose.

Ow, !@#$. I am not happy. Not happy at all mini/madhead. I guess I'm not allowed to release it on the site, either?

You can post it on this site, but please put it under 'Extreme Violence'. That way there will be caution to whoever wishes to watch it.
I agree with not having it in the contest, just a bit too violent. :P

mini/confused How old are you?

Re: The Movie Poster Thread [Large Images]

Actually, they were not all killed in Gas Chambers -- Some with guns, others of starvation, some in a crematorium. I really don't think "Cool" is a proper term for the death of 1 million people.

As others have said, it'd be fine to release it on the site, as long as it's got the appropriate tag for the violence.

Re: The Movie Poster Thread [Large Images]

I'd actually be interested in seeing a STAR entry based around Auschwitz if it could be done in a sensitive manner. That poster doesn't fill me with confidence though.

Re: The Movie Poster Thread [Large Images]

Yeah, the post looks ridiculously insensitive to be honest.

Same...I should clarify that Auschwitz as a subject wouldn't necessarily invalidate the film for STAR, but graphic violence like that in the poster would.

Re: The Movie Poster Thread [Large Images]

Not the greatest poster I've ever made, but it'll do for now.

Now, let's hope to god that I get this thing done before the deadline.

EDIT: btw, that reflection on his helmet, (the black rectangle) is actually a mistake, but it's funny because it does fit in with the story somehow. You'll see when the movie is made. :P

What if I edit out the graphic violence? I'm NOT going to throw away 11 mins of footage.

Re: The Movie Poster Thread [Large Images]

Hey, 11 minutes is a lot and nobody's saying you should give up your project.  If it weren't graphically violent then it'd be OK for STAR, and you could re-release it with additional footage after the judging for the contest is finished if you like.  Or if you prefer you could just not use it as a STAR entry.

FYI, I've had something similar to this happen to me before - I was working on my "Bane of the Sith" trailer for the Star Wars LEGO contest, then realized it was too dark and violent for the contest.  I halted production on "Bane of the Sith," and made "Clone Trooper Down" for the contest.  Once I'd finished that, I completed "Bane of the Sith."

Re: The Movie Poster Thread [Large Images]

Well, graphic violence is not something I was aiming for. The film is story and not blood driven. It's not a problem to cut some of the scenes.

The small texts look pretty right, but the red letters don't tickle my fancy at all.
