Topic: Which windows operating system to get

I have a mac currently running snow lepard and 6gb of RAM
So i think its pretty good but what i need at the moment is to run windows applications and I think my best bet is to just run bootcamp
However i need ot know which operating system to get
Im loking to run LEocad and other kinds of windows programs on it
Ive beeen looking at windows 7 but they are so pricey
Also I have a question
When ive downloaded the bootcamp with whatever OS I get can i just transfer the files between the operating systems or hoe does that work
Im willing to spend some money but not a whole lot

Windows XP Pro. Vista is just fail.

I got Win7 Ultimate for free mini/bigsmile
But haven't used it yet.

I have Vista and I couldn't explain how much I love it through words. Vista seems to get badly opinionated by people but once you get used to it, it's a fast, customiseable and aesthetically appealing computer. I'm sure you could get it cheap on amazon. Personally, I find XP very bad. It probably crashed 5 times as often as Vista. I don't really remember my Vista ever crashing. Nothing springs to mind. My recommendation.

I have windows vista and I can't see a difference from that or Win7.  My advice, Windows Vista,

I bought Windows 7 Ultimate for £90 on eBay (new) and it's a really good Operating System, good performance and a good set of features.

I wouldn't recommend XP purely do to security problems, Windows Vista is slow and performance wise not a good choice.

When I bought Windows 7 I had doubts but they seem largely forgotten about, it's a very user friendly Operating System.

Don't go with Vista, you're just setting yourself up for disappointment.

XP may do the trick if you absolutely have to go with it, although in a year or two I wouldn't expect to see much support for it.

Windows 7 is your best bet overall right now. It's a slick OS, powerful and easier to use than XP in many ways.

My my, we seem to have another disturbed one, well, we can always dispose of it never the less.

Get Windows 7. I use it, I love it, very customizable, especially if you get Rocketdock.

i use bootcamp on my mac, and i use windows 7, its great! Also i remember it being possible to transfer files from one op. system to another, but i dont remember how to do it sadly.

I have awesome sauce in my veins! Which i sprinkle on each of my videos to give it an extra dose of aweomseness!

i have windows 7 and vista. and theyre both slow for me. windows xp was perfect until it turned 4 years old.

What are your system specs, steve? Sometimes a little bit of maintenance is all that's needed to keep your machine running smoothly.

I have vista and I'm pretty content with it, but it would be nice to get Win7 some time next year maybe.  Vista is just so, vista-ish.  Thats why I like it.  mini/delirium
