Topic: Backround Help

Ok, So I have built a giant Lego set for my next movie a full table and now I was wondering if it would be cheezy to have the air/slash back-round just be a lets say sheet hanging there?

Would something be better?
Please share your thoughts.

Re: Backround Help

full table like... human sized??

Re: Backround Help

personally, I love the simplicity of having like a sheet behind it. it gives the focus to the set and characters you've made. I think a CGI background would just be taking away from what the viewer should be looking at.

Yep, it's huge. K sweet thx I think I'm gonna go with a sheet.

Re: Backround Help

That's what we're using as well. You should be fine with a sheet.

Re: Backround Help

A sample frame would help us determine whether it's "cheezy" or not. I wouldn't make your decision based on one person's opinion.

Re: Backround Help

A sample frame of what the set and the background?

The background is sorta so you don't have to look at the walls and its not to draw your attention away from the set. At least not for this one since I put some work into the set.

I guess I should post some pictures of the set. These first shots will have no back round drop because I'm undecided but you can see the set and then I'll work on some type of background soon.

THX

Re: Backround Help

So here are some shots of the set and two with a background. Hope you like!
Tell me if the link doesn't work.

Re: Backround Help

It's cool, but looks like it would be hard to animate...

And the sheet would look fine, as long as you get the lighting right, because with that patch of light on it, it looks fake.

Re: Backround Help

The animation will be hard, but the pay off will be sweet. I've also got the time to switch it around and stuff.

Re: Backround Help

The sheet might work, but you've got to get it farther from your set than that, or change your aperture value so that it's out of focus. Right now it just looks like you stuck a sheet behind the set so you don't have to make it any bigger (which is fine... you just don't want it to be that obvious). I'd like to see an actual frame of the film with the sheet in place to see what it looks like.

Oh, and storm troopers guarding a police station from ninjas with laser guns? You've piqued my curiosity it a way that makes me feel kind of guilty...

Re: Backround Help

Hahaha Ok so with the Police station I don't want to give up any of the storyline yet. But I'll say something. I figure that in the star wars universe there will be some type of police faction. Now I'm not trying to make only a star wars thing or copy any story I know about it. But I am making what I think to be new. At least I don't think anyone has done this before. To the sheet pictures. No they weren't great they were rushed with me holding up the sheet, as you can see in one of the pictures. Just taking the pics with a random camera I had.

I have not started any footage due to the fact that Stop Motion Pro is on back-order from where I am getting it and am really annoyed with them now.

@vegas productions: I hoping to make some awesome animations, I've just been messing around with a trial version on stuff and can't wait to get started.
@Masterman 129: like a bed sheet.
@Noodle: I'm not sure if making you feel guilty is bad or good, but I like to make things different and new.

If you guys would like to know the general plot of the story and battles feel free to ask? Otherwise it's staying under-wraps till some work is put in. I'm really excited for this movie and I think it's time to go complain about the back-order. lol.
