Windows Movie Maker but I do have Vegas 4.0
Instead of resizing your video, you will need to crop off the top and bottom of your video. You will need to do some math first: Basically, if you want to have a 16:9 resolution here's the math you need to do:
- Take the width (W)
- Divide it by 16
- Multiply that by 9
- Substract this number (I'll call it H) from the original height O.
- Divide this number by two (I'll call it D for difference)
(Example for a 640x480 video: 640 / 16 = 40. 40 * 9 = 360. 480 - 360 = 120. 120 / 2 = 60.)
Now you know how much pixels you will need to crop off the bottom and the top. (in our case, 60 off the top, 60 off the bottom). You can also use two different number as long as they both add up to the D number (in our case 120).
I'm not sure whether WMM supports cropping though. I'm pretty sure Vegas can do it.
you go into tools, options and change the aspect ratio, but the video must be HD for it not to stretch.
