What! Everybdoy is getting those except for me and I have like 6 times as many subscribers as you!
It must be the copyrighted content on my channel...
Even so, I know I would never accept one of those. It's jsut seducing us to the dark side of bad videos.
A buddy of mine just got the email, he only has 26 subs and 4 videos on his channel...
I also got the email, but now I'm not interested in youtube partnership. I know, that's odd.
I want to make my videos just for you and for FUN, not for money.
Wait... am I the only one who doesn't want to be a youtube partner now?

I want a YouTube partnership for a banner, not the money. I just think the banner is so cool. Also, the option to change the thumbnail. I could care less about the money. But I mainly brickfilm for fun. I think if somebody finds brickfilming tedious or boring, they shouldn't brickfilm. But in total, the banner is awesome, I like the thumbnail feature, and I don't care much about the money. [/rant]

Banner. Yeah. That's pretty cool. ![]()
Yeah, I agree. I want to be a partner for the features, not the money.

I've never wanted to be a YouTube partner, so yeah. It doesn't sound very appealing to me- I just don't like having adverts on my channel. For me, the only thing from the partner program I would find appealing is the extra channel stuff.
Also I couldn't be a partner if I wanted to because I don't have "enough original content". (Probably because I use copyrighted music a lot)
I agree. I probably won't be a partner either(But I don't care), because I just started using copyrighted stuff.
(I just got fed up with using music from incompetech.com). It's annoying to hear the same music in every video.

The way I think of it is...If I was to be a youtube partner I would accept...To help my subscribers...I know, I know, I'm getting the money. But I would spend it on LEGO for my films, so I would almost help my youtube and reward my subscribers with super epic movies and new stuff that I spent on my VIDEOS with their money : D

If I apply for a partnership, as others have said, I would mainly do it for the features. Even if I do get money, it would really be nothing that substantial. The only downsides would be the ads and the restrictions of copywritten music, ect. But I think it's a small sacrifice, and you can decide if you think it's worth it; I personally do. But one question: I heard that you can choose if you want the ads on the side of the video or before it. Is that really true?

Yes it asks you before you upload it if you want to enable revenue sharing or not. If you click no it will be treated like a normal video on Youtube, I think. And if your video doesn't have copyrighted material, i would suggest you enable revenue sharing because you might be surprised about how much money you will bring in.
Hate Ads?
Have fun turning youtube into a subscription service!
EDIT: nevermind.

Hi all, just two quick questions,
If i use about 5-10 seconds of song does that count as copyright infringement? Will that stop me from monetizing that video?
Thanks
Yeah, I recently used a song for about 15 seconds on a film, and they told me it was copyrighted.
I believe if you have under 30 second of copyright music, YouTube wont take down the video. But you cannot make money on the video if it has any copyrighted music.
