I have some problems with BiM, I CANT SEE ANY SMILIES! Take a look at this:

It appears that you just need to run the screen on "compatability view." Just click the following button at the top of your screen:
And watch your troubles disappear!

I'm assuming your using Internet Explorer. BiM simply doesn't work with IE. I recommend switching to Firefox, or Google Chrome.
No, it works fine with IE for me. I just use the compatibility mode that BuilderBrothers pointed out, and it works great. Why does everyone think that IE sucks?

IE is an awful browser as far as performance and compatibility with the same standards most other browsers use. But with the compatibility mode in the newer version, it should be a little less of an issue.
Wait people still use Internet Explorer.
I know, that's the worst part of it, it's the most popular browser right now but it's also the worst.
I actually like it. 
It used to be that IE wouldn't download anything from an "unreliable" site (i.e. Any competing web browsers' download page).

It is on the decline however.
Every now and then I find myself using IE and I get the same problem as seaforce. I'll have to try your solution BuilderBrothers. The only reason I use IE at times is that my family opens so many tabs in Firefox that it ends up crashing but saves all the tabs. Then we start using IE until someone decides to open FF and let all those tabs reload. IE seems like a dieing web browser IMO.

There is nothing wrong with IE! it works perfectly only my smilies dissapeared but I have been able to fix that with BB's help!
Plus it's ugly.
