I've found in the past that, original or not, brickfilms in general look great in university/work experience interviews, or at least, better than I thought they would. If it's done well, people take notice.

Yeah I always got really positive reactions from film professors and the like, to my lego movies.

Although at some point I became known as the lego guy within the film department...

For all of you that heard I was leaving for Paris, I just want to let you know that I am okay. I've cancelled the Eurostar train and I am staying in London. I will still be going to Disneyland Paris, but I won't be staying in Paris at all. My thoughts and prayers to the people of France at this tragic time.

For real? I figured they'd be shrugged off by universities unless they're really something spectacular.

According to a third year on my course, one of the tutors uses my brickfilms as examples to his classes in the Storytelling module, which came as a massive surprise to me (sure, I share my stuff around on social media, but I've never actually spoken to this tutor before). We shouldn't be afraid to take our brickfilms seriously (to a degree); if they're good, people generally treat them as such.

Everyone is self-critical about their work but I think the fact brickfilms are created using Lego makes it easier to be dismissive of them.

I agree 100%.  Who cares what the medium is?  If it's a worthwhile story, it can be appreciated.  What is The Prince of Egypt but a bunch of drawings?  It's more than the drawings.  As a gestalt, it's one of the best films ever!  Same with brickfilms.  If you aren't dismissive, they are more than photographs of Lego constructions.  Just because Lego is the medium means that it isn't something worthy of merit.

Glad to her you're alright,William. I'm glad people are finally getting fired up about Isis and are gonna do something. Also, now that something bad actually happend, don't people feel silly about getting mad about a cup?

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Café Corner

Hey guys, just wondering if I could ask a favour mini/wink

E4, a UK TV channel has an annual competition to create a 10-second "e-sting" and my entry has been selected as a finalist! It's currently in a Twitter vote against another entry and it's pretty tight at the moment. You can check out the entries here, mine's the #E4cutout one (yes, not my usual style...). To vote you just tweet the hashtag.

So yeah, I'd really appreciate it if you could check it out

Done! Good luck!

I'd figure that most one joke brickfilms made by a teenager would just be ignored.

For context, the films I showed to film department professors back in 2007/2008 and got good responses to were The Oven and Crown of Syracuse. So, some of my better work at the time, but nothing mindblowing. I think LEGO animation that is executed pretty well just stands out from a crowd of low quality live action shorts rather easily. It's very hard to do live action well IMO; I found it much harder than making a brickfilm of similar quality when I was starting out.

Re: Café Corner

Done. Best of luck! It's quite a close one at the moment.

Not sure if this is the best place for it, but does anybody have any ideas for how to make a watering can for a minifigure? Currently building a set with a rooftop garden, and I figure a watering can would be a nice touch. I have a couple of ideas, but they're not particularly good (though I'll give them a go if need be).

Re: Café Corner

My older sibling is coming home from school this weekend for my birthday and Thanksgiving and she's bringing some of her acrylic paints, which means I can begin work on my custom Walter White minifigure.
