My mother was in Yugoslovia, but never went to Slavic states. Be careful, a lot of action there.

I'm trying to be calm and not get riled up by other peoples' pretentiousness. Happy thoughts, Nathan. Rainbows, bubbles and pumpkin pie.

We all know how this ends.
I booked a holiday to Ukraine next month. Going on a tour to Chernobyl too... anyone been?
I have experience with the film Chernobyl Diaries, which should prove to be of great advantage when the mutants inevitably attack.
I have better experience from the action/horror fps game: S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl.
I suppose it would be an interesting experience visiting the site of a nuclear disaster, and hopefully the ceasefire agreement between Ukranian soldiers and Russian nationalists (who are likely linked to the Russian government) will work out before you get there...

I think its all settling down now anyway, I'm not going near the east border anyway at least.
Pack a bulletproof vest just in case...along with your radiation suit....

So, has anyone played any good new games lately? With the steam summer sale and all, I'd imagine lots of people are playing some new stuff.
So far, I've spent about $50 on games during the sale. My personal highlights include Towerfall, Battle Block Theater, PacMan Championship Edition DX+, GunPoint, and CSGO.
I thought I would spend the most time on Towerfall, but PacMan has just captivated me so much. It's got that old arcade still addiction factor to it, where you just have to try one more time to beat someone else' score and climb up the ranks, so I've found myself spending quite a bit of time with it.
For anyone who's wondering, my Steam name is Sonjira.

theres a free game that im in love with called CRYPT WORLDS: YOUR DARKEST DESIRES, COME TRUE!.... its not on steam but it is the best game ive ever played... ive beaten it 7 times and every time i discover more to do and its hilarious and looks rly cool (its not supposed to be pretty, it just looks awesome though).... play it.... it's inspiring for real

Right now I have no money so I can't buy any games.
Of course, I could ask my mother to buy me a cheap game perchance.
however, there doesn't seem to be much about which strikes my fancy at the time. I haven't really been paying a lot of attention to what games are coming out and what new stuff is happening except for what Nintendo's doing which saddens me at my lacking of a Wii U.
I do kinda want Goat Simulator, though.
Due to my cheap ways, I play mostly free to play games myself. Grabbed Ghost Recon: Phantoms off of Steam a couple of days ago. Liking it so far!
LEGO Marvel Superheroes finally came out for Mac, so I got that the other day. I really try not to game too much, because I know I tend to get hooked and have trouble getting anything done. Instead of a gaming addiction, I just try not to game for the most part (LEGO Marvel obviously had to be the exception, because it's just perfect).
The steam summer sale has put a lot of my wishlist games on sale.
I bought Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender, Finding Teddy, Metal Slug 3, and Terraria. Plus I still have a ton of other games I'm trying to beat like Fez and Lone Survivor. Also my friend and I are casually playing StarCraft II every now and then. I'm not very good at it.
It sounds like I'm playing a lot, but in reality I'm not spending too much time on them. I'm trying to focus on other things like screenwriting and editing, while prepping for my next animation project. But if I find I need a break from them, I enjoy doing some games. ![]()
I actually am immersed in retro games that I have little interest in today's games, but I do like Magic: The Gathering, Duesl of the Planeswalkers 2012 edition for the PC. I don't like the 2014 edition.
Although the Steam sales are great, keep an eye out for the Humble Bundles, which can range from meh to outstanding, and are regularly better than the single deals you find on Steam. I picked up Fez, Bastion (now one of my favourite games of all time), Dust: An Elysian Tail and several other top-notch games for just a few quid in one package. Plus, if you play the games and collect all the trading cards from the drops, you'll have enough to get one or two new games on Steam, by using the Community Market - a true win-win situation.

Eh. There hasn't been a Humlble Bundle in almost a year that I've been interested enough in to buy. It started out with a lot of more well known games/ones that looked interesting, but it feels like it's gradually leaned into really obscure, SUPER indie territory, to the point where I just don't even want to look up what the game is.
That might just be me, but I like the element of choice that Steam Sales give. Pretty much any game you want will be on some sort of sale, with the exception of early access games, which I feel most of the time shouldn't be bought (looking at you, DayZ).
On a completely different note, I finally got around to cleaning up my animation desk fully. I've had random LEGO laying around on it for forever, so it feels great to finally have it clean.

I've gotten a bit carried away by the Summer Sale, so I've already picked up a few sweet games; I am a Mac user though, so there haven't been that many interesting deals for me personally.
I have however already finished the first episode of The Wolf Among Us, one of the games I've gotten from one of the Dailies. It is looking very neat so far. It's a pick-your-own-adventure kind of thing; so a lot of early decisions affect a lot of things later on. A TellTale game (the same people behind The Walking Dead) based on the comic book series Fables. It is very intense and violence/swearing heavy, but very enjoyable.
Also picked up and played a bit of a game called The Swapper. A 2D strategy sci-fi game where you play as an astronaut with a sort of specialized weapon that clones your character wherever you want, which you use to solve puzzles and things like that. I haven't played much of this but visually it is really appealing and spectacular, and it looks interesting so far.
I have some other games I am thinking about getting but I should probably stop before I'm broke. ![]()

Very true, Steam is the #1 place to go if you're looking for fairly new releases, older AAA titles or just generally well-known games at good prices. Nonetheless - ignoring the majority of Bundles which, as you say, are in the murky depths of the indie genre - Humbly Bundly can still be a good place to search. I've signed up for the newsletter, so I don't need to visit the site; just a flick through my emails can show me if their deal is worth getting.
As an additional point, the majority of the time in Humble Bundles, you will also receive the soundtrack of the games. While I would've loved to have downloaded Bastion's soundtrack which is truly a treat to the ears (it wasn't available), I'm pretty content with listening to Dust: An Elysian Tails' melodies, which I received at no extra cost.
Best news I've heard all week. Now they just need to release the Green Lantern Animated Series on DVD and I'll be happy.
After going through parts of the LEGO Movie frame-by-frame, I can say that there is a reference to Knights' Kingdom in it! Not an entire minifigure as I had hoped (at least not that I found), but there was a reference. Around the twenty minute mark Lord Business has a large map on the wall where he's erected walls around the world and had became obsessed with order.
Each of the areas show on the map have a name. The names are Bricksburg, The Old West, Pirates Cove, Viking's Landing, Pharoah's Quest, Middle Zealand, Cape Space, Dino Island, Atlantis, Octan HQ, Forest of Obsolete Products, Vladek's Realm, and the Technic Mecha Min...(the rest of the word's cut off). And there it is, the reference to Knights' Kingdom I was hoping for!
