Topic: Ease In Ease out?

After recently watching the amazing fancypants,s tutorial on ease in, ease out, and trying it. its just not working, and it just doesnt look right. What do I do? Its not working, perhaps Im doing the technique wrong. Im not sure.

Im trying to improve my animation to a smooth standard before attempting to create any of my film ideas. I would be grateful if you guys could help. Thanks.

Re: Ease In Ease out?

You need to actually say what you're doing if you want someone to tell you if you're doing it wrong. Or link to a test or something.

Re: Ease In Ease out?

for example, to move a figs arm, start out by moving it extremly little. Then move it a little bit. Then a little. Then medium then pretty fast. Keep the motions fast until you get his arm parellel to the ground. Then go backwards (not the arm, backwards in the directions.)

Re: Ease In Ease out?

Not EVERYTHING in animation should be eased. Sometime abrupt halts can be very effective.

0ldscratch is right though - you should tell us what it is you're animating before we can provide appropriate advice.

Re: Ease In Ease out?

What frame rate do you use? Fancypants operates at 15 fps, so you should try to use at least 12.
