Topic: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

Does anyone have the old bionicles, back when they were part of technic? and does anyone Still have the First Issue of Bionicle comics ever?
Doesny anyone think that the new ones are way big, and just nout as cool as the Old School sets?

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

I liked them when i was younger, the first 6 they released we're good and it was nice to get some villains but they went over the top with making new bionicles.

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

I got the first type (I knew them all by name) and I liked the movie, but I lost interest soon after.

I have an experience, though, where I was building a Bionicle and missed out one of the parts. I noticed that one of the legs was really weak, so I worked it out and fixed it all by myself. I was dead chuffed. mini/smile

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

I remember getting my first Bionicle. When they were first released, I remember it too well.
They were awesome, I tried to collect them all. It was until the Piraka line I lost interest... They raised the Bionicle's prices, and released too many too soon.

I still like the comics and books though.

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

There's a boy at my school who is  between 13-14 yearsold who still plays with bionicle, he takes them to school, has a bionicle packed lunch box and pencil case, Brings the books for school reading and People have gone to the toilet and heard him sitting on the toilet playing with his bionicles. It's a shame people bully him as he has lots of problems.

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

I had all of the first ones and so did my friends. I remember playing "Bionicles" in the sandpit, and we'd pretend to be them. It was awesome. mini/bigsmile

Oh, and this thread needs a picture.

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

I remember the first time I ever saw a bionicle. My brother had it, and by that time he had just given me all his LEGO, then I found a bionicle, and I loved it so much, I have lots of memories from it. I then started collecting more bionicles as by this time I loved them, I found a few other bionicle pieces in my brothers old pile of bricks, and found a variety of pieces, so I then built my own bionicles with the pieces I had. After a while bionicles were losing popularity, but I still liked them, a new type of bionicles came out (they were called inika or something) and I loved it. Then the LEGO company started making piles of bionicles that I didn't like as much, and I went off them. And nowadays every time I get a LEGO catalog I would always brag about the new bionicles sets.

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

Hey, I just remembered that I once made a 'movie' with my Bionicles. I had every single one (of the first line). You couldn't really call it a Bionicle brickfilm because it was really just a series of Photoshopped pictures of each of the Toa fighting each other. It was simply 'Picture 1: Green fighting Brown. Picture 2: Brown wins. Picture 3: New contender attacks Brown. Picture 4: New one wins.' etc. etc. I was so proud of it.

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

I have a question about the story.
Is it over? Now that Mata Nui has woken, are the Toa done?
Also, way back in the line with the Toa that fought the giant vines, wasn't it a story told by a Turaga? Wouldn't that mean that the rest of it is all a story told by a Turaga?

Bionicle is the single greatest line of original Lego products yet. The story and characters are great, I remember playing with them all the time.

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

I used to love the old bionicles. But many times I've been thinking about how I've been wasting money and gifts getting bionichles instead of lego.

I've never really got into Bionicle. They just looked all the same to me. I preferred playing with Lego when I was younger mini/bigsmile.

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

1st gen and 2nd generation bionicles were the best.

Re: Old School Bionicle Appreciation Thread

I remember how I loved them when I was younger, however, I lost intrest pretty early as the prices raised and new ones kept coming like all the time.

I wonder when they will stop making Bionicles, and bring back Ninjas perhaps mini/bigsmile.
