Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

@Realm, well, that's what I get for recommending something that I know nothing about.
Thanks for the clarification and knowledge!

@Jayem,
So, I'm guessing that it's an alien trooper looking into an alien craft.
While you certainly got the lighting right from the ship, there needs to be a bit of background lighting as well.
Thing is, it goes from super-bright white, to no light at all. Most of the grainy-ness is due to that, and can be fixed.

The angle is nothing super-special or fascinating, but it works. It's not ugly either, but it's just a average angle.
BUT, it looks good for a first brickfilm.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Here's a frame from a brickfilm I started animating yesterday. We'll see how far I get before school starts.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Everything's a bit out of focus, but the framing is really nice.

Anyway, it's a bit more than one frame but whatever.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I feel the swinging of the chair is a bit fast. I can barely tell what's happening.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

It's probably a sudden unexpected attack which should be pretty fast (just guessing)

I had to watch it a couple of time before I understood that it was the chair that hit the guy.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Nice! Very atmospheric. It's not too dark that we can't see what's happening either, although the legs are obscured a little bit.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Double-post.

Here's a frame from my A2 Film Studies coursework. It's called Ozymandias. I'm quite pleased with how it's coming out so far, despite some slightly dodgy keying in a few frames (I'm really new to After Effects).

And yes, this is intentionally very odd-looking. It's a post-apocalyptic village, and these two kids are about to go on quite the adventure.

That's some good quality there! I'll be looking forward to seeing more! mini/bigsmile

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Really interesting frame there, jampot! It truly is unique. It looks as if you tried to pull a key on the background, as there are some rougher looking spots. Is this true?

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Yeah, it's keyed. Well, almost. I only have an 18-55mm lens at the moment, so deep focus wasn't really an option (annoyingly). I mean, it looks okay, but it's not great. I'm not confident enough with After Effects to be able to remove it.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

What do you mean by deep focus? If you mean a wide depth of field, simply crank the f-stop to something around 20. I personally wouldn't go any shallower than you already are. Extreme shallow depth of field in brickfilms doesn't look good usually IMO. It's easier to key shots that aren't as shallow also.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

By deep I mean having the whole frame in focus. I did play around with the aperture before, but I'll have another look. Thanks.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I already released these in the past couple of weeks, but I just want to share a couple of the frames with you.

Did you use the keylight plug-in for color keying?

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

You could fix this eventually by adding a gradient in the BG, make it bit darker matching the edges and ramp it up to brighter in the top
