Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Anyone here have tips on how to make a lightning flash effect?  I mean during the animation, on a figure.  How many frames should I take with a flashlight on?

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Depends on how many frames per second you're animating at, but there's no hard and fast rule. Experiment and see what looks right.

How did you manage the upside down tile by the way? Sticky tack? Can't wait to see the film!

Simply stick a few of those into the bottom of a brick, and you can put flipped tiles underneath the brick. mini/smile

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Thanks ANP! I think I'm going to try that too, it looks really neat!

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I feel like I need to use that method more often. I'm assuming it's what Sean did, it could be sticky, though.

In my Vortex test montage I did a lightning test at standard 15 FPS.
I'm not sure I remember this one perfectly, but for the first frame with the light, I had it either far away/used a less bright LED, for the next frame, I either had another transitional frame, or I went straight to full brightness with my brightest LED at full power.  After the really bright frame, I went for only a little LED light, then full brightness again, then had a frame or two where it faded out

Spot on with that, AnnoyingNoises. Two of those pins attached to the underside of the plate.

- EDIT -

I debated on whether to upload this or not, but I'm going to because I'm reasonably happy with how it came out. Click for full size.

What is that, a messed-up calculator? It looks perfect.
Also, is it a musical?

I want to know what the object is that he used for the elevator controls.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

IT'S BATMAN!

(Okay, I already knew that Batman was in this but still)

That's a really interesting elevator control.  Much better than just having a blank plate.

From my upcoming film, The Guardians.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Um, the set is a bit bland. And I don't really dig the green floor or angle. Cool phaser design tho
Sean, how did you do the  button thing? Is that like a teensy sticker you printed or CGI or whatevs?

But....But.....It looks so real. mini/twitch
And why would you CGI in everything and cover up the wall like that?

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

It gives a much cleaner and nicer result, I think.
