Topic: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

Please email your scripts to [email protected] please use the following format for submitting scripts for no confusion!.
You can now post your script with a short description directly in the thread itll be faster that way and i can add it to the front of the thread with your email so anyone interested can email you and you can approve it (You must specify you wish to verify the script reciever) I wish you would still use the forms when doing this..

This means you can Post the form. Pm the form. Or email me the form and its now updated with a specify if you wish to moderate who recieves your script.
If you choose that option then delete the script link option since youll be moderating it..
When you approve the use of your script with someone else via email or pm what be it get them to msg me and tell me theyre using it so i can update the post with the scripts ^_^.

I suggest the use of the script writing software CELTX : http://celtx.com/download.html
Although i do not use CELTX i think its a waste of space i use note pad but MANY BIM users agree celtx is the way to go.

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

mini/smile Well that didn't come out as i had hoped.. post any questions.. the spoiler tags on most forums are click to expand mini/XD i didn't expect that lol

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

No offense, but this seems way more complicated than it needs to be. What's wrong with just having people post a link to their script and whatever information they want, directors come in, pick one, and contact the writer themselves? I understand you want to prevent multiple people from taking the same script, but as long as potential directors are contacting the writers, that won't happen. Having a middleman really seems like it's going to muddle things unnecessarily. I'd get rid of the spoiler tags, too... they're not shortening anything and just making your post harder and more annoying to read.

Also, demanding that writers use incorrect screenplay format is absurd. I understand you're trying to keep everything in the same format for continuity's sake, but why a confusing format you made up instead of the industry standard? Celtx is free and easy to use, and there are examples to follow everywhere you look.

This is a great idea for a thread, and I hope it works out. But I'd suggest making the process a lot simpler, at least at the start.

Edited for grammar errors.

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

ive heard yall now tell me what ya'll don't like about the system i dont want it to dumbed down because then it wont seem that organized but.. i spose i could just let you send your scripts to the email with a short desc and i put the short desc here and if someone likes it they email me the name of the script and i give it to them..

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

Sorry I have no part in this but quoting someone 3/4 times isn't gonna help and is rather stupid and a waste of time... mini/confused

(Yes, I just started the "-LL" thing.)

Edit:
Get rid of the spoilers, it makes things hard to read and understand.

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

What she... oh wait, what noodle said!

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

It doesn't really need to be that organized. Here's what I'd suggest:

  • Post a link to Celtx in the thread description and encourage people to use correct screenplay format, but allow scripts in any format to be submitted. You'll get more submissions that way, and that's the whole idea.

  • Simplfy your thread description. A lot. Get rid of all the spoilers, and reduce it to a paragraph or two, tops. All you really need is to explain the thread's purpose (allowing users to submit scripts for other users to produce) and explain how to submit a film.

  • Take yourself out of the equation. There's no reason you should be involved at all. A writer posts a link to their film, a director contacts them. Done.

  • As far as a submission form, I'd require just four things: The film's title, a link to the script, a paragraph description of the plot, and an email address for prospective directors to contact the writers at (or just a request to PM them). For example:

Script Title
Link to Script
Here's what happens in the script. Maybe two dudes sit on a couch for a while. Maybe Batman shows up and fights the chick from the last Indiana Jones flick or something.
Contact the writer at [email protected].

  • Don't worry about quality. If a script isn't any good, no one will agree to produce it. Pure and simple.

  • And don't start a third thread, either. Once things are changed up and seem to be getting somewhere, I'm sure that a mod can remove all the unnecessary posts.

Edited to correct tags.

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

I wasn't going to create a 3rd post and i don't like celtx and i assure you those spoilers are best there.. ill workout a new system tomorrow... please check back for updates ^_^

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

Once more... what noodle said.

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

You idiots will you stop posting that its useless if youd read my posts i said im working on it theres no need to quote him when i already know and am working on it mods can you delete the noodle posts..

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

...
The problem here is that what Noodle said is the system that makes sense. There's no reason to adapt it to the system you've set up, you would save yourself and others a ton of trouble by just using standard screenplay format and allowing the authors to take responsibility for their script. With the first post as it is now, I know I would never use this thread, it's just too confusing and counter intuitive. It looks like you put a lot of time into this, but if there's a better way than the one you've come up with, it would be more beneficial to the scriptwriters to implement that design rather than attempting to salvage what you've done so far and making a mess.
No need to get angry.

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

This is extremely complicated. I don't really understand it.

Re: Grab-A-Script Beta 2.0 (Updated!)

.... have you not listened to me im about to remove this current system and make it ALOT more simpler i originally made it that complicated because i didn't want people submitting horrible scripts that make no sense but your right ill never get scripts in the system with it this complicated i apoligize im restarting this one will be SO MUCH SIMPLER and yes i put about 3 days into this system
