My favorite is Cooked Cat and Rivvm m's since they had the most movement. Though all the others were pretty awesome to!
Wow... You win… Mine's not going to be nearly as good as that

Indy, I love that glow effect you achieved with the chainsaw, pretty awesome!

While we wait for the results, how about we go ahead and throw around ideas for a new challenge? Let's do something that lots of people don't do, and that's not so easy, but everyone can do.
How about Anticipation animation? I think that we could all use some practice with that. And if you don't like that, there's a whole list of 12 principles of animation for us to pick from.
Another idea that I have is dress walking. Not just making a female minifigure with a skirt hop around, but actually animating the skirt.
Fist bumping/hand shake/high five
Combine all of those in a single challenge.
@Rivvm m, that was done in December, but I didn't get to participate (because I was sick), and there was only one person that entered (though the entry was late, so the challenge was forfeited), so we could do that again. I've been wanting to try that, in fact, I am planning on animating a dress in a new film, and I think it would be great practice.
@Tenny Ehhh, it's been done before. Not in the animation challenge, but in other things. Plus, it's not much of a challenge. Let's remember the point of this topic:
...identify particular movements, characters, and situations that are difficult to animate and then figuring out new ways to overcome those challenges.
Not that it's a bad challenge, it's just not much of a challenge.

I wonder should this thread be started over or replaced with something new along the same lines? It is so gigantic at this stage that many of the good challenges are sure to have been done already, even though most people who enter nowadays wouldn't have been around for them. The main post is also not updated any more and the response to new challenges is often slim to none. The chainsaw challenge got a decent response, but I think overall that change should occur with this topic.
I think animating a bowling strike would be interesting.

Yeah, I think a restructuring of this thread may be a good idea. Like penta said, we've done so many challenges that it's become very hard to keep track of what has and hasn't been done. And even if we could, the fact that these challenges don't attract nearly as many entries as they used to makes me think spicing things up a bit would be a good help. Maybe something along the lines of Vimeo's Weekend Challenges, were you have to create videos based on specific ideas and themes, such as "Repetition" or "Conveying a NOT Color". I'm not saying we should just outright do their challenges, but I think something along those lines would be pretty cool.
Whipping something/somebody ?
Scalping somebody ?
Walking against the wind ?
Bleeding ?

These mostly sound a bit grim to me.

I would be all for this.

It's not because it's grim that it's not interesting to animate.

I know, but I personally wouldn't be comfortable animating a little yellow plastic person scalping another little yellow plastic person. So I'd have to sit these ones out. But that's just a matter of personal preference.

But still, there are children on this website, after all, I know this is an annoying thing to point out, but LEGO is a children's toy. Running against the wind seems like a cool idea, though.
I know they all sounded grim but each idea presented doesn't HAVE to be.
Scalping: One could animate a desperate minifig outside an arena trying to get rid of the tickets he mistakenly bought for Menudo.
Whipping: cream. Beat beat beat.
Bleeding: the air out of some tires. Or paint into a canvas.
Although I do believe Brick-Movie might be working on a horror film next and wants some ideas.
I like the bowling strike idea. I just saw a bowling brickfilm last week with my kids and it was well done.
Walking against the wind is also nice but has wind on the environment been done? Trees/grass slightly bending in the wind, flower petals fluttering, water foaming and clouds moving for example. There would be no minifigs just an environment.
Have fun.
