Topic: Favorite Editing Software

Name your favorite editing software, it's features, and what you like about it. This way I might get a better idea on what to use, since if I just straight out ask, no one really says anything other than the title, or they tell me to look at the free software list. I want to know what your editing software does for you and for brickfilms.

Re: Favorite Editing Software

I've used Adobe Premiere for most of my films and I really like it. Currently I am using Final Cut Pro, because I have a mac now.
But to answer your question: It is up to you, some prefer Premiere, some Final Cut. I'd say try both or even more (like Sony Vegas, etc.) and see which one fits you best. Most of 'em have free trails available.

Re: Favorite Editing Software

Thanks. I'll do that.

Yeah kids, now make a decent movie with your decent software mini/wink

I use Magix 15 video deluxe. Enough, because the effects are already done in after effects.
It's very good for sound editing also (I use it to do the final editing for composing, so I can see what is happening on the film).

Same. Like TGTom, I do the effects in AE, then just use MMEP for basic editing and sound. Works pretty well.

*sigh* I wish I had the money to spend on such an expensive program like AE...

What's considered the all around best video editor by everyone, not just everyone's separate preference?

Re: Favorite Editing Software

I use Final Cut Express at the moment, but I'm looking to upgrade to Pro. The interface takes some getting used to, but I love it just because it can do just about anything you could possibly want it to. I've used Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 and was not a fan... perhaps it was because I was running it on Windows, but the program would crash repeatedly and had a number of odd little quirks that I didn't like at all. And like Tom and Amanda, I use AE liberally for all effects, color correction, compositing, etc.

That's like asking what the tastiest flavor of pie is. There's no answer, just everyone's personal preference.

And the answer to that is that the most popular pie is the pumpkin pie, by national survey mini/tongue . That type of answer to my question keeps coming back to haunt me. Maybe that'll  be my Halloween entry. Come on guys mini/confused . I would try the demos of everyone, but my Dad is suspicious on all my downloading right now and the computers problems happening at the same time. Btw, I'm on a Windows.

Re: Favorite Editing Software

For Windows, I'd recommend either Magix or Vegas. I've used neither, so I can't get any more specific than that.

Re: Favorite Editing Software

Thanks Noodle! You've given me the straightest reply yet mini/bigsmile ! Which one has the least glitches? I read that Magix drops frames often(not good for brickfilms) and Vegas has a lot of loading problems.

Not entirely true. Yes, it does take a bit of time to load, but its not that long. Its good software, and has some nice effects. The effects are very flexible too, so you can customize. For example, you can use the Zoom/Crop to make Panning effects. It has a really good Chroma-Keying tool. It can do effects such as Lightning, Flashes, and more. I have the Platinum Version. You should get Platinum or Pro. Don't waste money on the basic version, you'll regret it. The basic version is BASICALLY WMM2 with some extra features.
