I was hoping you guys new about any special effects software that basically does everything in Effectslab but cheaper. any suggestions? 
Blender, Axogon Composer, Squirlz water reflections, Cinegibs Keyer, Wax, those are all programs that achieve great special effects and they are absolutely free.
Check out the Free Software List, linked to by mccov above. What you want is either there or it's not. If it's not, either fork over the money, or wait until someone comes out with an open-source SFX program. I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but the truth hurts.

Well, you could get Particlle Illusions, it's not free ($150), but it can do over 1,500 effects or something like that, from explosions, to water reflections, even to lightining or something like that, and basically everything in between. There's also a 30 day free trial that I found when I googled it. But, if you think that's too pricy, then just stick to the free software list. That's what I've done so far.

Google Muzzle Flash or whatever you want and it will be free just needs to be keyed with something like Cinegobs Keyer Which is FREE!
